I wouldn't mind a cameo. If you helped him and he became a companion, you see him maybe running around as a warrior somewhere.

If you never helped him, or gave him back to his slave master, you see him as a slave.

As someone stated before me, I could see him being the leader of a slave revolt in Tevinter, especially if we visit there. And gives a line about why he's doing it. Something like either "My time in Kirkwall...." or "I just couldn't stand being his puppet for another year."

Even though my Hawke romanced Fenris, it would feel weird if he showed up in DA:I if it didn't make sense to the story.
Though, I wouldn't mind if Varric mentions Fenris and Hawke together (if they are), that would be more than enough for me.
Honestly, I would rather have Zevran more than Fenris, but it wouldn't bother me if either of them didn't show up if the story doesn't call for them.

No thanks. Fenris was one of the characters I liked the least in the whole series. He is a huge walking hypocrite.

For someone who hated being a slave, he sure is determined to force others to be slaves. I get that he was tortured and abused by magic at the hands of the magisters, yet he seemingly has no compassion whatsoever for others who are equally abused and mistreated because they are mages.

Giant ball of hate with almost no redeeming qualities. I am not saying he wasn't a well written character for all that, just that I have no desire to ever see him again.

If Hawke sides with the mages he'll side with Meredith. He can be convinced to abandon her, but if he isn't, he's a boss fight, and you kill him.

Yes, but this only happens if his friendship/rivalry isn't maxed.

^^^What these two kind BSNers wrote.
I started phase 1 interactions with Fenris - and I ended up just leaving him parked brooding in his mansion that needed a major renno.
Then he confronted me with an entrouage of  templars, I think it was.
It was SO satisfying. 
Twin blades and flying rogue moves tore him to nothingness in a surprisingly very quick fashion on difficult setting.
Very satisfying.

Yes if Hawke and he is together still. Even if they are not at same place in the game... Meaning story wise if you played with Fenris as offical lover they would still have an relationship.
