This again from my last topic that showed the rumor to be false was from the very same first rumors b4 anything was announced.  So including the PC, will we have a 5 member party using 4 out of our 9 companions?  If so this would be awesome since I always do the trilogy in my games.  As in Mage healer, rogue archer/debuffer, warrior tank with me being dps whatever I am.  With this I can have what I always play as AND my LI involved :)

so any idea If this rumor is true/falsh/up in the air still?

EDIT* turns out this was nothing more then a rumor.  So instead I wish to ask those of you what you think of DAI having a 5 person party?
SPECULATE NOW!!!

What? Didn't the gameplay party consist of PC + 3 companions. Where is 5 coming from?

This. I too only saw 3 companions.

Maybe they will change that, I wouldn't mind 4 companions. (wouldn't be the first time they surprise us)

The 3 companions were the 3 that has been announced. So it's easy to see how they could just use the 3 and leave the 4th empty. I'm just wandering if this has been brought up again anytime recently

I have no idea what he's talking about either Bioware has always used 2-4 member party system in their RPG'S and only saw a 4 person party in the demo and a 4 person party in concept arts.

Oh, okay I understand. Personally, I highly doubt that would be the case. I think they'll stick with the 3 companion group we had in previous DA games.

I certainly wouldn't mind 5, as it allows me to bring someone who I actually want to be in the party outside of the usual tank, rogue, mage set up.

Actually, now that I think about it.. having 4 people following me around is kind of strange and probably overkill haha

I would like 5 in the party, but I don't see it.

One of the devs commented on how it will totally through the maths of the combat out of whack. So four. Four is good too, well, I hate the number with a fiery passion, but it serves its purpose.

No one is forcing you to go with a tank, rogue, mage setup, personally i go with 4 rouges in DA2 and 3 rouges and a mage in DAO

While I love banter and the interjections companions give in conversation, I think at 5 you get too much path finding problems for the AI and too much stuff on screen with ability and icons.

Someone didn't play BG2.

Obviously you're not forced to do anything, but there are huge benefits to having a set up for optimal party boosts, chest opening, and damage sinking especially at higher difficulties. And oftentimes, that would leave me with a party not composed of who I would actually want to run the game with.

It's not a huge issue and I don't expect to like all the characters equally, but it would be nice to have that free slot. But, again, I highly doubt it will happen.

Or I forgot anyway that doesn't matter most of the time they had a party of 3-4.

Jade Empire 2 person party
Kotor and Kotor 2 3 person party
Mass Effect series 3 person party
Dragon age series 4 person party
Baldur's Gate 2 had 6 person party

It's not even a rumor. One person asking is not a rumor.

1 1/2 person party in single.

Considering i read it on a article online tho I will admit I can't seem to find it thus probably showing the lack of...well authenticity of it. But rumors are things you hear/read somewhere that hasn't been confirmed. I did this and just because you didn't doesn't defer from the fact I did. I'm sorry I cannot provide a link, but I did make the topic in attempt to find this out. The few that have decided that I made it all up can go on their way. This forum is for fans to ask questions/speculate/discuss the game. I'm doing just that from something I saw about half a year ago (again showing the lack of impact the rumors I read but still was something that lingered in my mind)
