I'm preparing for the last set of quests in Awakening, and I want to know what companions I can leave behind without them dying. I'm max'd out the Keep's upgrades.

Mmm let me have a look at the wiki.
Sigrun and Justice will die anyway in the epilogue if left at the keep. Velanna will have a big rock or whatever fall on her if she's left at the keep, but they don't find her body so her fate is ambiguous (but she has extra dialogue with her sister anyway if you bring her)
For importing to DA2, Justice and Anders will show up in it anyway whether they were killed or not, and Nathaniel will always be considered dead unless he was taken with you to fight the Mother.

You'll want to have Nathaniel, Sigrun, and Velanna with you. It minimizes casualties and allows Nathaniel to appear in DA2 as Secretly mentioned.
Be aware that Sigrun will take a huge hit to approval if you spare the Architect. Have some gifts handy to butter her back up afterward, as her approval rating affects the epilogue.

This is a little complicated...
If you maxed the improvements at the Keep and you completed the companion quests, then no-one will die at the Keep - according to the epilogues.
However, the plot flags will show those left behind as dead. This is only important in the case of Nathaniel, whose DA2 appearance is dependent on him surviving Awakenings. So take him with you on your endgame missions.
Everyone else will either not appear in DA2 or will appear regardless of whether they 'died' in Awakenings.
And since we are getting Dragon Age Keep to sort out our saves, DA:I will presumably register that the companions in a fully up-graded Keep did indeed survive (probably. But that does remain to be seen).
