Shepard dying in space, and being brought back to life? But I got better. That was a biggie.

They were trying to show PTSD, but they really didn't research PTSD at all. They figured a few dreams about a kid would show it. We got PTSD by people who don't have a clue because it would have made the game too gritty. It would have taken Shepard even more out of character from the player. It won't be "your Shepard" anymore.

The dreams should have been scrapped.

PTSD? More like OOC from a writer with ODD.

It's ok, I'm a good cook, I headcannon my Shep to be the same. What kind of a man can't cook a decent filet mignon?

Me.

Loss of your LI
Remembering your own death
Death of squadmates (remember Mordin, SM, Virmire Rannoch, Citadel Coup, etc.)

*sigh* Well, then I guess Ash or Kaidan are a more practical choice in that case.

Shepard should of had dreams about the future and how terrible it will be, then we probably could have gotten a half-decent ending.

Sad attempt at derailing thread into yet another ending thread is sad.

Also, Shepard should probably dream about shooting things. An very fitting dream, I say.

I think most of us agree that Shepard has more important things on her/his mind than a random kid who died on Earth. That's assuming that the kid was real to begin with but that's thread for another day.  I would have Shepard's dream depend on Shepard's past.  I'm a war hero engineer colonist, so she'd dream of Skylian Blitz exect it would be on Mindoir.  You play as shepard as a teenager, some of the enemies would be characters from previous games like Balak, Elenor, Merc I pushed out of the window, Toombs, Saren. Also it's a dream so why not have some EA fun with it?  Have Shepard dream s/he's on that derelict reaper again but now it's filled with Necromorphs (If you have deadspace or something) What do you  think?

I like the idea of playing a kid Shepard like in Uncharted 3 with Drake. First dream, A teenager on the streets of Earth, running from thugs and getting into fights, to joining the military. Perhaps a flashback of Anderson seeing some potential in him and recommending military service. It would at least explain why my Shep is so respectful to him. A nice hunting by Saren around the second dream, and a third dream could be about Shep's LI. It would have been nice to have something that showcased my Shep's fear at losing Kaidan or something. These dreams would have made a much better impact than the kid.

Nothing. Kind of like how Jack's swearing tirade at Joker is absent; some things are best left to imagination

It doesn't make sense. Introduced for artistic reasons, I guess. I'd rather no dreams than the kid....they could have played with the idea of indoctrination, show dead npcs, or even better, force shep to face shep's atrocities. Meh.

Not every Shep committed attrocities. I know mine didn't;)

You let Liara live on your ship for months on end twice. That's an atrocity.

If I could find the interview, I would, but it was partly because of complaints that Shepard wasn't human enough.

See, it's all your fault (you who complained about this ;) You who couldn't be satisfied with the comical action story it was to begin with ).

Mac wanted to convey a sense of humanity, but didn't want to be too heavy handed about it. He came upon the idea after watching Gladiator.

Turns out though that it was heavy handed anyhow.

Many batarians die in arrival (whether played or not, shep's actions are canon). Besides, all sheps kill a lot of people, even paragons. That, whether fighting for "right" or "wrong", has an impact.

Forgot to add: the kid dreams were a cheap foreshadowing of ghostkid.

People that Shepard actually cares about, as dictated by player choice.

Well, let's see...

Akuze (for survivor)
Mindoir (for colonist)
Virmire
The Suicide Mission (If squadmates die)
Dying (at the beginning of ME2)
Torfan (if ruthless)
Elysium (for war hero)
Earth burning

So many different scenarios and we get stuck with a kid we see and talk to once...

Dream 1: event recap of ME1 (Virmire, etc) ending with the destruction of the Normandy and Shepard's death from ME2's intro.

Dream 2: event recap of ME2 (suicide mission, etc)

Dream 3: about former squadmates who died during ME3 (Mordin, Legion, etc)

Dream 4: (final dream before Chronos/Earth) Possible failure of the mission, loss of Shepard's LI/Normandy Crew or Squad. (them being turned into reaper ground troops)

The dreams focused too much on that one stupid kid, but I doubt there would have been enough time to do the dreams as I described above. So they should have just been scrapped all together. Also, since ME3 is supposed to be the "perfect jumping in point for new players."

ME3 should have been made entirely unwelcome to new players.

I whole-heartedly agree, the third game in a TRILOGY should be the WORST jumping in point for newcomers.
