Well, I think the sons of Maferath were alternatively called the Sons of Betrayal or the Sons of the Prophet so I think they were said to be Andraste's sons.

I apologize for my earlier post. It appears Andraste did have several children. I should have looked that up beforehand.

Andraste actually had children with Maferath and these sons divided much of Southern Thedas after Andraste's death. However, when word of Maferath's betrayal spread, the sons he had with Andraste were called "Children of Betrayal" because of what their father did.
Given this naming and the fact that it was Drakon, who wasn't related to Andraste at all, that founded the Chantry and united Southern Thedas, I'd say they were not very popular with the people.
Also, there is no mention of any of them being mages.

This is all stated in "World of Thedas" some in the religion sections, some in Orlais'.

Given the gap in time from Andraste to modern Thedas (DA:O), it's probably already happened. It would be roughly the same odds as meeting a descendant of Charlemagne in modern western Europe (i.e. almost a certainty). My money is on Slim Couldry.

Pretty much this.

After a thousand years, give or take, if there are any descendants left, there are a lot of them. Something like sixteen percent of China's population is descended from Genghis Khan.

Keep in mind that has less to do with natural population factors and more to do with his particular brand of genocide.

Well, that's due largely to the insane number of children Genghis fathered (mostly with captured slaves, mind you). A conservative estimate puts that number in the hundreds. Plus, his (officially-recognized) sons were rulers and had sizeable harems as well.

Well, to paraphrase Cracked.com, the man did have not one, but two feathers in his cap. One for f**king, and one for murder.

But more to the point, when talking about Andraste, we aren't talking about a chaste, peaceful prophetess. We're talking about a barbarian warlord and rebel slave. More Spartacus than Joan of Arc. Even assuming she only had children with her husband, it's completely plausible that her sons took a very proactive approach to procreation.

I mean, if it turns out that Flemeth is Andraste, then the warden who performed the dark ritual would actually be the father of this "descendant" lol

Would it matter if they were legitimate or not?

Having said that, yes, apparently she had several children with her husband(the mortal one, not the Maker).

Flemeth is not Andraste.
Way too long for it to mean anything.

We don't really know who Drakon is related to, he was born over 100 years after Andraste died. Lots of babies where made in that time...

I just checked in WoT
Andraste was born in -203
She married Marefath in -187 (at 16)
She died in -170 (at 33, hmmm, I see what you did there BioWare)

Oh, just found out that she had 3 sons. Dang this lore is all over the place...

Their oldest son could be ~17 at her death, but Marefath didn't split the land he conquered with his sons until -165. Orlais (Ciriane tribes) was unified in -155 (this is the bit with Jeshavis and two of the 3 sons). The Jeshavis entry also claims that Drakon was born 8 generations after her unification of the land...

I'd suppose it's easier to trace your ancestry and prove it if they're legitimate. I mean, if you say "well Andraste had a bastard child that wasn't recorded", who can prove that?

Also, am I the only one who would find it hilarious if her descendent was a dwarf? Say one of her surviving kids ran off to join the dwarves for safety after **** went down and eventually married and had half dwarf kids.

All her descendants are quanri. That would be better. Nothing but a line of all male qunari saarebas.
