All that means is the guy didn't think the red viens were a problem, and shares a differing opinion with you. Unless you made the game yourself, there's always going to be something you dislike just a little about it. But if that dislike is so small that it's to the point of insignifigance for you, there's no reason to take off anything.

It was obvious that Mass effect 2 would be superior to Dragon age:origins.

Now,that doesn't mean that plenty of DA:O fans will like or love Mass effect 2.It's fantasy vs sci-fi and an old school rpg versus an hybrid which is trading stats for twitch and player skills.Dragon age is already the superior "rpg",but Mass effect 2 will be the superior game.If you think about it,most critcs were raised on console where gameplay is king.ME 2 will be the best effort from Bioware when it come to gameplay since combat is so improved,so by that factor alone it might become the highest rated opus for Bioware.

From a technical point of view Mass effect 2 will be so superior to Dragon age it's not even funny.The graphics are vastly superior,the art style is definitively more inspired(and it's the best effort from Bioware as far as art direction goes).The Mass effect universe is definitively more inspired than Dragon age(aliens design,tech,etc) and the soundtrack is fantastic.Nothing against that Inon Zur guy,but the Dragon age soundtrack is rather standard.Mass effect feature music which isn't common in the videogame world(a blade runner vibe with synths) and it's very high quality stuff.You go on most Mass effect board and people will discuss the music and OST,much like Final Fantasy forums where music is an important factor.

Lower my standards? Yeah, I don't really care about something so minor that it warrants a lower score, espcially by 5%. Plus I haven't even played the game, nor you I assume, to have a real opinion about how the red veins look while actually playing.

But as others have said, we have differing opinions. I respect your opinion, but you didn't have to go and say that I'm lowering my standards.

Can you explain why the magazine is considered controversial? 

Some claim that it is made for teenagers, other blame for 'killing' other mags with Cover CD and games on it. Also, many bash it, because in it's first years it was not very good mag indeed. Also, it has once made a very big mistake in giving marks, but apologized and corrected later.

I'm glad to hear that the game got a 10/10. However, if the reviewer is talking about Thane...that certainly makes him less appealing. I mean, didn't Carth and Sky have children too? I'd like more love interests that DON'T have emotional baggage because of kids. Really. I would.



I guess it's possible that he was talking about the DLC character, even though he is a bounty hunter and not an assassin, those professions are similar. But since Thane's loyalty achievement does hint at daddy issues, I'm probably just grasping for straws.

+Fantastic characters and dialogues
+Fantastic voice acting (in the English version)

+A story that sucks you in

-I didn't find any, although I tired.
-Still more limited than an MMO...

Mac Abra - He was first against giving a 10 score. He says that for him
ME2 was still ME1.. just prettier and better. But after a week he still doesn’t
have enough of ME2 and sleepovers just so he can play it.

CormaC - He also was against the 10. He agrees that ME2 is pretty,
climatic and what is most important has a story that sucks you in since the
first minutes, but he still didn't think it deserved a higher note. 
Well he also changed his mind after a "few" more hours spent
playing and realizing that for a long time there wasn't a game that would make
him stay late and throw away work just to - play, play and play. As for the bad he says that looking for resources is boring and a few
locations are too tight.

Qn'ik - He knew Al would give ME2 a 10, but didn't expect that the rest
would also 'break' like that. He says he had stayed neutral..... just because he still hadn’t had a
chance to play ME2 because the copies they received were taken faster than you
can say "Mass Effect 2!" ._.

Smuggler - Something between Republic Commando and KotOR, except not in
the star wars universe. But if someone likes SF and wants to save the universe
- they will be in heaven.

Of course they could have a different opinon....do you not understand the shorthand "IMO" that is present at the end of my statemement? I don't currently think the red veins are a huge issue (again, assuming they don't block important HUD info when they show up) and I doubt they will distract from my experience, but they are a WTF? moment in an otherwise near flawless performance...IMO, that make them even worse that showing up in a mediocre game. (again...note the IMO in there...I'm not stating my opinion is absolutely correct and the only one that matters).

As for the lowering of standards, I guess I didn't have to type it, but that doesn't change what it is.  Exactly what would you call it when something that's NOT perfect is awarded a perfect rating?  Adjusting the scale?  Allowing for small imperfections that just don't matter?  Making an exception to your definition of "perfect"?  if you accept that 10/10 == PERFECT, then there are plenty of nicer ways to say it, but it ammounts to the same thing.  Maybe 0.5 points is a bit much for such a minor flaw, so how about a 9.75 or even a 9.8?

Red Veins aside, until I play the game, I find it hard to believe it's a 10/10 title. I could change my mind and will be the first to admit I was wrong and it IS the perfect gaming experience. That does not change the fact when game review sites that toss out 10/10 scores to half a dozen games a year it cheapens the idea of what a 10/10 score SHOULD mean....perfection.

I think that the health regen system is pretty cool too...So mind you, not everyone shares your opinion.
