Lately whenever I think I've come across a decent player in a PUG, they never fail to disappoint me, when they start shooting rockets on the extraction wave.

This. Quickest way to make yourself look like a scrub in my eyes.

An IRL friend told me yesterday that he does it all the time.

I don't mind people who were helping throughout the game nuking wave 11, I personally find it silly but it's their missile.
What pisses me off is when someone hasn't been helping throughout the game and didn't use a missile during objective waves or any other time that it was necessary and then decides to nuke wave 11 Image IPB.

Agreed, that is  much worse, but there is no hope for those people. My post is more an appeal to good players to use their missiles a little more wisely.

If it's Geth and I still have missiles any spawn with Primes is getting a rocket on principle. That said usually I missile random chit on Geth all throughout the match. This disclaimer is usually broadcast over the mic that all Primes must die.

I don't get why people do it in PUGs; caring about score that much is a bit sad. That said, I mind it only when: 1/ it causes a really unhelpful spawn that screws the team over, or 2/ the player in question didn't use rockets when it really would have been helpful, and the team just barely pulled through.

That said, I'll try to thin out a spawn, but not shut it down completely, if we end up with a poor location (e.g. on Glacier at extraction). Sometimes I suspect it's more of a debatable judgement call than inveterate scoreboard mischief.

I have seen spawn-nuking on 11 a lot recently, including three of my last four PUGs; none of them needed XP. Meh.

Bad players have to pad their score with wave11 missiling to appear better than they are, because:

I only have two beefs with rocketing spawns on wave 11.

1) At times the same people that rocket for points will outright refuse to rocket earlier in the game when they should be rocketing.

2) Large danger to team mates who are holding an area and suddenly have a spawn behind them or in an unfavorable location.

They don't help the team, you're right. Not at all. But they never harm the team either. Think of it as a personal pursuit, or a personal habit, it has no effect on anyone else. Also, I never understood that whole "ruining the spawns" business. I've never once experienced that in my time spent playing the game (with a max manifest and 47k N7), so unfortunately I can't relate to that. I've never once been blindsided by a spawn as a result of someone nuking a previous spawn. So really, it's a harmless act and I say if you got some spare rockets, go ahead and let rip.

If you are using spare rockets on Wave 11, it means you f-ed up somewhere on the earlier waves.  You could have nuked 3 spawns on earlier waves with those 3 rockets and knocked a few minutes off your clear time.

Not really. I always try my best to save at least 3 missiles for wave 10, I don't trust pugs. If it's targets, I'll use all the missiles. If not, I'll use them for cleanup. Frequently, I'll be left with 2 missiles on wave 11, even after wave 10 cleanup. I'll only be actively nuking every single wave if playing with friends.

SausySalamandre...

A decent team generally won't need more than a rocket or two per person for objectives, emergencies, objective emergencies etc. If you've got a few left over, that's what rocket celebration wave is for...

You're here!

Also... Wave 11 spawn nuking is the weakest of point whoring. Use em on 8 or something actually productive.

Usually, the ones who fire all rockets on wave 11 are simply in 3rd or 4th place and dont want to look like they totally scrubed out for the last 10 waves... or Players in 1st place who want to epeen it up and keep 1st place.

Now that said in certain instances forcing a spawn on extraction can be helpful. IE on giant if you are on the far side by the ammo/ramp in the back end of the controll room -- the far side by the ladder/ammo/crates usually spawns. 1 single rocket will force that spawn to go somewhere else. Likewise... giant... if team is holding LZ a rocket in the back left spawn followed immediatly with another in the right will kill those close spawns off and they will spawn on other end of map.

I've encouraged wave 11 nuking from everyone lately because it's hilarious to see people come here and complain about it.

I agree. One rocket should be all you get but it should be easier to use immediately. You get one "oh ****" button per game.

i never used to see this, couldnt understand all the complaining. Then about 2-3 months ago, started seeing it a lot in gold matches. So far i havent seen anyone use more than 2 rockets. I have seen people who refused to use gel or rockets in earlier waves, using both on wave 11 and THAT annoys me.

I personally like to take 9 with me into each game, but that's just me.

Normally I'd say, "Do whatever the hell you want, they're your missiles". But the other day, a pug used six missiles on wave 11 in a failed attempt to beat my score... ON LOLSILVER! First time this genuinely bothered me a little...

It pisses me off if the team don't give 1/2 ****s about the match in general and never used missiles not even in emergency situations, and then they lol at wave 11 nuking like no tomorrow.

But if everything went good and they want to waste their last missiles in wave 11, by all means...

I'd prefer two, since otherwise randoms would probably never use that single rocket. Other 'D-pad consumables' are okay, but I think rockets is a noticeable part of why some people complain about the game being easy. And grenade gear.

I'm sorry...it's just that I feel very frustrated if at the end I find myself left with all of my nukes unspent.
