There needs to be some restrictions in place for romances. I mean dwarves could romance dwarves only, same with qunari. Humans and elves can romance each other but not qunari or dwarves. Everyone can understand why, qunari have one thing called the Qun and they have very strict rules. Dwarves have a very rigid social system and castes. So it's only logical thing to do. Not even mentioning physiology. 
Also we should consider that Thedas has it's fair share of xenophobia and racism.

I think it maybe should be a point of discussion during any set of companion interactions, but I'd doubt the devs choice to make all character player sexual would only extend to sexual orientation and gender. I feel it would also apply to player character race.

Tell you what... You just play the game that way and you will be entirely happy. The rest of us will play how we want to and also be happy. Doesn't that seem like the more obvious choice?

Screw logic, I want my protagonist to sleep with anybody I want. Seems legit.

No thanks. If nothing else, it seems like it would require more romance options.

And if you followed the Qun, the Qunari couldn't romance anyone. And the caste system doesn't seem to stop you sleeping with non-dwarves, and you're a dirty casteless surfacer anyway.

I wouldn't be totally against it, if it fit the character's personality. If it was just done that way because "Damn, it's too hard to block this Qunari/Dwarf love scene, cut it!" that would be wrong. But it's not a feature I would crusade for, as I know it would discourage many a good fan.

It should be up to the player to determine what kind of sexual bias the inquisitor has...Such restrictions should not be forced upon them

It's because it's unrealistic in the hierarchical, racist and xenophobical world of Thedas.

So Fereldans can't sleep with Orlesians,  or actually any people from any country should be restricted to only the same country.   Why would elves then be allowed with humans?   That seems silly that you allow such based on your "logic".   Mages can also only sleep with other mages then too.

Because humans and elves are quite similar in DA setting. They can even have children. It was the same since Tolkien.
