Note there's an implication that when one says "I don't find black females attractive" that includes "of ones that I have seen."
There's also a difference in simply saying "I don't find black females attractive" and then saying "I don't like them specifically because they have black skin."
There's also a sociocultural context as well. I don't find people with neck rings attractive in the slightest, but there are cultures out there that do.
If a person finds that they don't get the physiological response for attraction for a particular physical trait, while it may be unfortunate it's also somewhat symptomatic of the environment and so forth. And honestly could simply be the way he is.
There really isn't a clear cut way to slice that one. For what other reason would one specifically single out a group of women and the give their identifying characteristic as the reason why they are a unattractive?
I don't find BLACK (identifying characteristic) Women attractive.
It's pretty clear to me, any other reason would involve you offering up some short sided stereotype. Im certainly not advocating that every race must be attracted to any race. But we can be honest with ourselves.

It isn't.
Hawke's possibly friends with:
Mercenaries or thieves, an underground mage group or templars, Varric (and by extension I'd assume the mercent guild with some carta friends), city guard, Vicount, might have the favor of the Magistrate (if you decided to save his waste of space son), a local healer that even nobles go to for treatments, possibly a renowed pirate, and he has ties to the Qunari.
Just...why would you even poke that beehive? What do you stand to gain?

You mean the child they allowed to stay in their clan? That one?
I mean sure they wouldn't be pleased but it doesn't seem excessive. As for talking about anyone not just Merrill the discussion is about Merrill and Hawke. Merrill's done far worse things than sleep with a human.
Different clan. And different circumstances. Merrill is actually shocked that Marethari takes the actions she does.
Yeah I know this. That however isn't what I was discussing. We were talking about Hawke.
Hawke pretty much throws the rulebook out the window. I mean, we could be talking about an apostate blood mage who becomes Viscount with templar backing
Dalish are willing to kill outsiders because outsiders tend to kill/attack them. Even if you peacefully let the human in the origin group go they organize a group to attack your clan.
And this is just one example of how interpecies romances face inherent difficulties in Thedas

Lol. Right. And I'm the queen of Antiva.
There might not be many black women you find attractive, but there are more than a few you'd drop your pants for given the chance.

It's funny how racism is such a thing we want in games as long as it's between humans and pointy eared humans instead of black and white. Everyone's like "I want the game to treat me differently!" whereas in real life people are like "stop pulling me over" "don't shoot me" "give me a job"
I don't think it's a matter of "want" as "want to overcome"

Sorry, but' s it's pretty racist to say a whole group of females are unattractive because of their skin color. It's not racist to say, "I usually dont prefer black women", It is very racist to say every single woman who is black is unattractive because she is black. It's perfectly fine to have preferences though.
Sorry, i disagree completely. My attraction or lack therof has no bearing whatsoever on how I treat someone, or even how much i like them as a person--hence, it's not racism.

Merrill hasn't officially moved in at that point. And what exactly would happen? Hawke invites Merrill to move in with him (or her) in Act II. They are in a relationship. And having no one react to their relationship made as little sense as everyone being blind to apostate Hawke being an illegal mage.

All right. So presumably if you fix your physical appearance to be hideous, or just unappealing, to the romance option in question, they'll turn you down there too?
If there was a way to quantify for that. But that's far, far more in-depth than simply a flag that says
//Cassandra LI
IF_PC=Qunari
THEN=No romance
or whatever. I don't think the high complexity of what you're suggesting is an excuse for NO character restrictions.

to be frank Merrill kind of is a racist douche at times. "She'd invite that filthy half blood into the clan but not me?" Nice Merrill real nice.
What do you mean different clan? Merrill's clan is the clan from the DAO origin.
Zatharian's clan had negative run ins with humans as well.
Hawke pretty much throws the rulebook out the window. I mean, we could be talking about an apostate blood mage who becomes Viscount with templar backing
I know which is why my reaction to the whole "Merrill and Hawke not experiencing discrimination is weird" thing was... "wait what?"
And this is just one example of how interpecies romances face inherent difficulties in Thedas
Yep. They still occur though. Not to mention the PC probably isn't going to be around his/her clan. Now sure said clan can express displeasure but it's not like you're gonna be sticking around long enough for it to be a problem.

People can talk all about what they prefer, I don't care. We all have preferences. Hell, if it was up to me, I'd be marrying a live version of Lara Croft. Not happening.
At the end of the day, if you're a man that is attracted to women (I'm not a woman, so leave me out of that), and a hot black female is in her bikini next to you, you're going to be sexually aroused. Unless you close your mind off.

Heck Hawke would probably stand there with a staff a lit on his back going . "Mage? What mage? He's clearly insane" and the templars will agree and drag the poor screaming noble away.

I'm specifically singling out that group because that's exactly what this topic is ABOUT, and that's exactly what the person I was responding to was talking about.
I've been getting several responses lately that seem to be ignoring the post I'm responding to and the context thereof. What I'm saying is easier to grasp if you don't do that.
