Remind me to kill your Hawke later.Merrill Rivalry is far better than friendship. You actually make her see how dumb she was being.

What? Merrill rivalry romance is superb. It comes off as Hawke doing everything to protect Merrill from herself only for Merrill to realize that Hawke was right, so much so that she destroys the mirror.
You should look up the romance on You tube, I find it far superior to the friendhsip one.

If by "she" you mean "the person close to her," yes. Marethari was the prideful idiot who fell for the demon's blandishments, not Merrill.Roninbarista wrote...
Merill is a good example of why the Circle of Magi was formed/needed. She dabbles in forces she didn't fully understand, and she outright refused to listen to the Keeper when she was warned. After her experience, I don't think she can go back to being so simplistic. She's a sweet, if not silly girl. However someone close to her died because she wouldn't listen.
Because I do the same thing. If you actually loved her, why would you go out with her only to emotionally abuse and mentally dominate her?If you actually lovedher then why would you support her decision to use blood magic and work with demons?

If blood magic was a drug or inherently bad, your analogy might have some merit. Alas, neither is true.Eterna5 wrote...

Is forcing a drug addict you love to go rehab and then making them see why said drug is bad considered emotional abuse?
Or should you just let them continue down that dangerous path becuse you don't wish to upset them?

Bull****. Marethari had no justification other than paranoia and pride in thinking that the Eluvian would be inherently dangerous, and she turned the rest of the clan against Merrill for the same reason.Roninbarista wrote...

The Keeper wanted to spare Merill, and knew it would end in tragedy. All of this is still laid at Meril'l's feet. She would not listen. She put herself over the needs of her clan. The Keeper paid the price for Merill's ambition/ignorance, and the clan will kill Merill if she goes to the camp again.

Taking over Marethari's body. Merrill didn't go back to see that demon for years, whereas Marethari was camped on top of it for the whole time. And there's no way that Marethari wasn't already possessed when you go see her in Act 3, given that teleportation spells don't exist in DA.Merill consorted with a demon that had the ultimate goal of taking over her body. Merill was to stubborn to see that, and as it was pointed out to Merill, "she wasn't listening."

Indeed, given that Merrill got rid of the darkspawn taint, which Anders can confirm. Not to mention that she's been handling it for years and not sickened and died.........you mean besides the LAST one killing tamlen and potentially the dalish warden when not chosen?
