He was the executive vice president of EA Sports and Origin before and has also been vice president and executive producer for the FIFA division, as well as headed up some studios in Asia.
He seems to have decent experience in management positions and, even if people don't like the franchises he worked on, we can at least say that those were management positions working on video games.
However, he also said that he believed EA's strategy was sound, which sounds like he's not going to be making any drastic changes around there.
We will see how he does, but at the end of the day the internet is going to complain about whoever EA put in charge, because EA.

Direct any queries you have to me: the shadow CEO and puppet master of Electronic Arts.
Only...wait, you can't because PM's are disabled on this site!
Oh I am so evil.
With this new CEO is a new reign of terror I shall bring under the guise of someone else. Don't believe me? Wait till the coming months. You thought Origin and Sim City were bad?
XD
Just wait...

Well, the EA sports is blatant shovelware, so I'm not expecting too much. Origin supposedly has gotten a bit better.

I still can't believe they disabled PMs. I guess they didnt like it that people would talk s*** about ea headed bioware out of the threads either.

That's nice and all...
but what exactly does it have to do with EA getting a new CEO?

Perhaps if you weren't so angry all the time you wouldn't come up with silly things like EA blocking PMs because they don't want people talking about them?

Who pissed into your coffee this morning?
Nevermind that, your comment is completely offtopic to the discussion in here. If you want to slander around, find appropriate places to do so.

I have a BioWare box around my pic, which gives me moderator powers. Care to explain yourself to me, then?

I apologize for the off topic post but was such a drastic move really necessary?Allan Schumacher wrote...

I mean couldn't something be implemented like if you block a user (an already existing feature of this site) it also blocks them from sending you messages and you can even hide their posts? GameTrailers' forums have been able to do that for some time now and it's marvelous being able to cut out the crap (which admittedly GT still has lots of but you can still block it) while also lessening the load on the site moderators.
More mods should be like this guy!Allan Schumacher wrote...

Because he's very immersed with the community and discussing with us quite regularily whilst keeping threads clear or locking if they aren't as is due?

My knowledge of business is relatively low, but it looks like he's had experience all over the place in EA. Definitely a sports fan. Edit: I'm surrounded by the great pyramids of BSN.Mr. Wilson has held several strategic positions since joining EA in 2000, providing leadership on product and brand development for both packaged goods and digital services. Most recently, Mr. Wilson served as Executive Vice President of EA SPORTS and Origin, EA’s consumer platform for downloading digital games.
Prior to his position leading EA SPORTS, Mr. Wilson directed worldwide development across the EA SPORTS portfolio of franchises. He also led EA’s Online Organization overseeing the direct-to-consumer business, Asia Online Publishing as well as the EA studio in Seoul, Korea. Mr. Wilson also previously served as Vice President and Executive Producer of the EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer Division. He was responsible for the strategic, creative and business direction of all EA SPORTS soccer games, including FIFA, FIFA World Cup, Euro, FIFA Manager and FIFA Street.

If you wish to see him engaged with the community, that is mostly reserved to the DAI forum section. Everyhwere else I've only seen him moderate or like this when he has a small side project of his like the "Descent" thing he has going.

well, im not 100% sure how big corporations work, but what I meant was that I doubt it will change anything when it comes down to the product for the consumer. I don't see any big changes being made in the culture of ea or anything else for that matter.
also...that was my opinion. I dont really play too many video games these days, but there are still games by developors that capture my interest. i can't think of any games by ea that make me want to play them. I used to play the games BioWare made though ^.^

I like the part where he said EA is the best game developer.
So did I--except I actually did like it.
(although not really, that was mostly a counter to your comment)
I'm a little disappointed it isn't Gibeau. Just a little.
