I've noticed just how many people want to see cameos of all characters so i feel like im in the minority when i say i just want to see a whole bunch of new characters! I do not want any party members to come back and be a party member again i want to see some new faces and hear some new stories. Now i like when old characters come back for a moment or two like Alistair in DA2 but i certainly do not want our whole party to be like 5 returning characters that would be so incredibly boring.

I'm with you. As much as I love the old faces I want new ones the most.

Varric is back and as far as I'm concerned, that's enough as far as cameos go.

I'm sure the developers know just well that you can't make a game based on nostalgia alone. It's just that we don't know the new characters yet, so it's difficult to be excited for something we know nothing about. Thus the thought "moar good Dragon Age stuff" easily translates into "the return of my favourite NPC."

I saw you on the internet back in two thousand two
Lying awake intently zooming in on you.
If I was young it didn't stop you coming through.
Oh-a oh

They took the credit for your second DVD.
Rendered by machines on new technology,
and now I understand the problems you can see.
Oh-a oh.

I want your children.
Oh-a oh.

What will you tell them?

Cameos killed the video star.
Cameos killed the video star.
Sequels came and broke your heart.
Oh-a-aho oh

And now we meet in an alien spoace station,
We see the playback and you saved the nation,
And you remember how the bugs used to go?
Oh-a oh.

You were the first one.
Oh-a oh.

You'll be the last one.

Cameos killed the video star.
Cameos killed the video star.

In my mind and in the bar,
we can't rewind we've gone too far.

Oh-a-aho oh,
Oh-a-aho oh.

Cameos killed the video star.
Cameos killed the video star.

In my mind and in the bar,
we can't rewind we've gone too far.

Sequels came and broke your heart,
Put down the blame on Electronics Art.

Ooh-ah, video star.
Ooh-ah, video star.

Cameos killed the video star.
Cameos killed the video star.

Cameos killed the video star.
Cameos killed the video star.

Cameos killed the video star.
(Ooh-ah, video star.)

I am not agree. Understand me well, I am agree that news charachters have to appear but I don't see why the old ones have not to appear. If you want all new charachters play another game then.

In a story, in a short time ( 10 to 20 years old) that has not sense to do disapear all old charachters. That calls continuity. If I bought a comics where Alistair, Isabella and Varric appears it is to learn what's happen to them.

If there is a DA4, if that happens in 30 years maybe one of the companion will be the the son of Oghren . Maybe Lazarus create a potion which cancel the tain and we can see Oghren also.

I don't want to see everyone in the past games but I would like to see some cameos of some characters.

Sure. I like returning characters, but they don't have to be party members. Just cameos/important NPCs to the plot.

I agree with no more returning characters for party members, Varric and Cassandra are enough. Only other character I wouldn't mind seeing return in party is Sigrun, loved her! Fresh faces are always better. I still want to see some cameo's from old party members though. Even from characters that weren't with you that long like Ariane, Finn and Tallis.

Dragon Age Origins has 11 party members, counting companions and the PC (since people keep asking for PC cameos).
Awakening has 6 new characters.
Dragon Age 2 has 9.

That's 26 characters. A handful might be dead, Anders, Loghain. Some almost certainly are like Wynne. But the vast majority could still be alive.

Just think about how the game could handle 23 cameos. If it's a 60 hour game, which I actually consider doubtful, that's still a cameo almost every two to three hours. Most noteworthy quest lines are longer than two hours. A good dungeon might last that long. Which means you pretty much can't go anywhere without running into one.

That's just for old party members. Then there's the supporting cast, Teagan, Eamon, Flemeth, Cullen, Irving, Jowan, Conner, Bhelen/Harrowmont, werewolves, Architect, Corypheus, Anora. At least Dragon Age 2 killed off almost all of its characters, so no worries there, right? There's simply not enough room for everyone.

No need to see a lot of returning characters.

It didn't make much sense in ME3 how you just randomly met into an old crewmate everytime you went on a mission, I hope DA:I avoids this.

Some cameos, sure no problem but we've had at least 20 companions in the previous games, they can't all make an appearance.

People don't want excessive numbers of cameos. They just want cameos of the people they liked.

Aye, there's the rub!

For what cameos may come when our PCs have shuffled off this mortal coil must give us pause.

Supported.

For a series where new entries are supposedly "new entirely different stories with a new hero and cast" there sure are a lot of the previous protagonist's rejects popping up all the time. Either connect the stories and do a Mass Effect series with one entire protagonist if you're going to keep a lot of the cast from the previous game past the point of coincidence or stop introducing all these old characters as though they're coincidentally where all the next big events are but the hero of the prior tale has vanished for some unknown reason.

Seeing as we're going to Tevinter and Orlais or whatever, why would it make sense to bump into all of Hawke's old friends or even The Warden's for that matter? Several will be okay but I hope this doesn't turn into a cameo feast just for fan service.

I don't mind them as long as they make sense but sometimes it's better to leave them out. I don't mind that they are perhaps mentioned in text but not shown.

No cameos unless they actually serve the plot. To me, most of the cameos in Da2 just screamed "Look, you're playing the same world and your choices mattered! See!? Here's Alistair as King, just like how you decided!"

I want to see what they're up to this long after. Many of them became noteworthy in one way or another after the game. Anders, for instance, if he lives, is probably public enemy number one, one way or another Sebastian is prince again, Sten, if he lives and went home, might be Arishok now. I would expect a lot of them to be encountered or mentioned, if it fits the story.

Say we play a qunari sten. The Arishok that sends you on your quest might be the Sten from the first game.

Or maybe we'll end up in the Free Marches, and if we're not important enough to speak to the prince of Starkhaven, maybe one of the NPCs mentions his return.

Maybe, if we need to find out what happened to cause the rift between chantry, circle, and templar, we'll need to question Anders., Bethany, or Carver.

I'm almost positive the king or queen of Fereldan is going to be mentioned at some point. If that's the case, we might meet up with Anora or Alistair. Or if the wardens have a more prominent role, Stroud, Varel, Alistair, ethany, Carver, or Loghain.

A couple of cameos i dont mind but we are in a new setting and new environment why would we get a bunch of the old characters returning for no reason? I dont want to be fed fanservice. I loved DAO so much and i usually always romanced Alistair but seeing him in DA2 felt so forced.

People complain about the Alistair cameo, but at least that one gave you an update of what's going on in Fereldan. The lack of that update with Anora was annoying.
