I'd like to see a templar as a party member

Not a former templar or a failed templar but an actual currently in-service templar.  It just ocurred to me that we've seen all kinds of angles on the mage side of the debate via our party members: born apostate mage, Circle mage who was fine with the Circle, Circle mage who escaped and became an apostate, Dalish mage, blood mage, opposed to blood magic mage.  Yet we have not seen a really personal face on the templar side of the issue.  It would be interesting.

I would put ten bucks on you getting your wish with Cullen.

Problem is, are templars allowed to serve in other orders at the same time? If not, they'll probably have to quit to join you.

Well, templars can go on missions. If they got a mandate and/or permission from superiors to "go help so-and-so" I think it could work, especially now that the templar order is in chaos and a lot of them are sort of doing what they want anyway. Do they have to take some kind of explicit vow or something to help the Inquisitor? I don't think it's as formal as joining the Wardens.

Well, we already got an ex-Templar, and one that was married to a Templar. So, I guess it's about time a full-pledged Templar joins me party.

As long as Holy Smite is no longer so powerful it crashes the game, sure.

If you pick a Mage Hawke and don't bring Carver with you on the expedition, he becomes a Templar.

Isn't Cullen a potential companion according to previous leaks. As for members of other orders I'm fairly certain a grey warden will be a companion seeing as how he was in the survey, bioware blog post about armor types, and plenty of concept art.

I'd so much like the option for characters that can be asked to join, or not asked. I could see a templar being assigned to work with the inquisitor.

A templar that hates mages would be wonderful for my inquisitor who does not trust any mage because they are weak.

But for my character who knows that each mage is an individual and makes personal choices just like most people, then a templar who agrees with this, or at least can be talked around to this view point would be great.

Totally forgot about this.  But he also leaves your party and only comes along on a handful of missions after that and I'd argue that "bitter younger brother" is a much more important part of his character than the templar part.  I don't think he's really ideologically a templar so much as "I'll show my mage sibling what for!  So there!"

I think the biggest obstacle here is that an actual Templar is required to act against apostate mages. If they were an actual Templar then a mage character would pretty much have to "off" him immediately when they realize that you are an apostate mage.

Otherwise the Templar would have to some how be bound by some oath greater than doing their duty. An ex-Templar or brother who is a Templar is likely to be the closest we will get.

Well, Cassandra's a confirmed party memeber, and she's a Seeker. And Seekers are typically recruited from the templars...

It would be nice to get more of a regular perspective from the Order.

I seriously doubt that's an issue anymore, what with the Templars breaking away from the Chantry. Judging by what we've heard about this Red Templar faction - the Order itself is hardly united.

Cassandra is around 18 in the anime and she's already a seeker, so she's not one of the seeker recruited from the templar ranks.

If Knight-Commander Meredith can overlook Hawke being an apostate for years, I don't see why grunt templar number # 347 will create any bigger of a plothole.

I wonder, if we did get a serving/active Templar - would you need to cater to the Lyrium addiction?

To be honest I think esp a female Templar would be a fantastic dynamic in the game esp if you play as a Mage. Great idea!

:? Aww, he abandons you for a really long time, and only rejoins you during the final moments of the game, but you're right.

So the request might be for a full-fledged and romancable templar :-)

Well more for a templar who doesn't abandon the party once he/she becomes a templar. There doesn't have to be romance, but that would be interesting too.
