Not a former templar or a failed templar but an actual currently in-service templar.  It just ocurred to me that we've seen all kinds of angles on the mage side of the debate via our party members: born apostate mage, Circle mage who was fine with the Circle, Circle mage who escaped and became an apostate, Dalish mage, blood mage, opposed to blood magic mage.  Yet we have not seen a really personal face on the templar side of the issue.  It would be interesting.

Some speculation it might be Cullen.

I think the biggest obstacle here is that an actual Templar is required to act against apostate mages. If they were an actual Templar then a mage character would pretty much have to "off" him immediately when they realize that you are an apostate mage.

Otherwise the Templar would have to some how be bound by some oath greater than doing their duty. An ex-Templar or brother who is a Templar is likely to be the closest we will get.

i think you got it right.

It's 99.99% that we do in fact get Cullen (the only missing thing is direct announs with the name).

So, here you go - wish granted.

People assume Cullen will be in the game..
Don't really want him, would prefer someone else, but will use him if he's a party member.

Cullen is soooooooooooo overated around here. Forget him I want Knight-Commander Meredith back for the makers sake! She was far more interesting then Cullen.

Cullen really only appeals to me if my warden was a female Amell. Otherwise he's Background NPC #452. I can see the value, though, in bringing him back. Perhaps we get a better look at what it was like for the Circle to rebuild, or an inside look at the mage/templar war. As I recall, even with a nonmage warden, Cullen has shown some sympathy to the mages. He does try to talk Meredith down, at least.

Cullen is definitely in the game, per previews and Greg Ellis. The million-sovereign question is whether he's in the party. I'm leaning toward no.

Uh, she's rather statue-like atm. Are you sure you want her in the party? :P

Cassandra is basically a super-Templar. We don't need anybody else. :)

To be fair the guy's been imprisioned by demons, forced to work in a city filled with demons and blood mages, and had to fight giant living statuary summoned by his commander and her glowing sword of insanity. Running off with the Inquisitor and his merry band of misfits might not appeal to him.

However, if he does join I vote that his Varric nickname be Lucky.

Thats an oversimplification.  There are plenty of reasonable middle ground templars.

unfortunately, if we get a Templar its likely to be Cullen. Though I really think Evangeline would be a much better representation, as she doesn't hate mages with every fiber of her being. Also shes more interesting.

A balance would be nice, yes. We've seen alot from the mage persepective, I'd like the option to recruit someone from the order.

Doesn't joining the Inquisition kind of say that you think the Templars are failing at what they are supposed to do? The Inquisition became the Templars and the Seekers that lead. If you want to become a totally different group again, it sort of implies that you don't agree with the direction the previous entity was moving in.

I love the idea. It will be interesting to see a templar and a mage together in the team. Both of them have opinions and standpoints. And templars can not always be bad eggs.

Well, Cassandra's a confirmed party memeber, and she's a Seeker. And Seekers are typically recruited from the templars...

Cassandra is around 18 in the anime and she's already a seeker, so she's not one of the seeker recruited from the templar ranks.

Alistair was in training to be a templar from a very young age. Considering that seekers are supposed to be the best of the templars, it would make sense for them to take someone with such potential. I could be wrong.

As a mage theirs gotta be a way to bring her back. Theirs gotta be a spell that will grant her life. Perhabs using an ounce of blood magic to revive her.

It might work that way in general, but Cassandra has a mentor in the anime, a seeker named Byron, who was like a father for her and thaught her about being a seeker. It seems to me that she was always in the Seekers rank, and not in the templars.
