Funny. I always thought the Drell were aquatic creatures...

They fit the stereotype more for that, aye.
Didn't picture them on a dry planet at least.

I've learned two things: 1.The Hanar are cooler, and 2. The Drell are Lizards, not fish. Both were surprising revelations.

You people forget that alien species don't fit in Earth's own unique taxonomy system, so we can only compare their features, not actually set them in any genus, ect.

No offense Chris, but you guys really need to hire a copy editor for the Universe section. its replete with embarrassing typos and grammatical errors.

"Co-exhibiting" on the Drell page is the one that really, really jumped out at me and assaulted me with a rolling pin. I don't think it means what your writer thinks it means, Bioware.

I forget nothing. Now, where did I put my keys?

Celrath wrote...

Most likely the Drell are neither, but they definitely are not  reptiles.

I don't get it. Why didn't the other council races help the Drell? Why only the hannar?
I hope this isn't a plot hole

Why not the Hannar? Maybe its as simple as the Hannar found them first.

But it says it took years to transport the Drell. The Hannar could have told all the other races about the Drell and they could have helped

There are some lexical errors/malapropisms  in the drell article. They "Co-exhibit with the hanar?" The drell who leave the hanar homeworld are usually "adventures?"

maybe because they are considered a non council race and a somewhat of a "freak" race in citadel, no one listened to them? Totally put's the hanar in a new light tough, them saving a race. I wonder if the drell have some sort of religious view of hanr as well, as savior race or such.

Intresting stuff, that the drell have only been around for 200 years in galaxy, so they becan to show up in 1980s or so in human calendar? Propably makes them aside from humans the newest sapient species on the galactic frame?

Actually, I just reread the article and it looks like almost all the help from the hanar occurred 800 years ago and lasted only ten years.  After ten years, it seems the hanar left the rest of the drell on Rakhana to die.  I understand not wanting to get involved with wars and such, but it seems they still could have worked to help more of the species over the century.  Again, a tremendous act of charity on the part of the hanar.  Just strange that it stopped so suddenly and with no real effort to help the greater population by giving them a chance at colonization.  Of course, with a population of 11 billion and the Krogan Rebellion in fairly recent memory at the time, maybe they were just hedging their bets.

Oddly, the article also says drell have only been part of the galactic community for 200 years, despite having been in cohabitation with the hanar for almost 800 years.  I wonder where the gap comes from.  Did they all stay on Kahje or did it just take that long for them to become enough of a unique power?

I would imagine that the Drell are sorrt of an client race to the Hanar. We know from Barla Von that over 80% of the galaxy's species recognize the Councils authority. We also know that several unknown races are clients of the Turians through war and conquest. It could be that for six centuries the Drell were just to few in number to be considered anything important to galactic politics.

As for the whole 'Hanar's Arc' thing, it could be that the Hanar simply didn't have the space and recources to help and house 11 billion people. Especially when those people are facing the realization that their situation is hopeless, and fighting all kinds of wars as a result.

Reptillian -like? So he is like a mammal in disguise?

Drell are as reptillian or mammalian as krogan are surian, salarians are amphibian and collectors are insect.

Which is to say, not at all.

Despite any superficial resemblances or even similar evolutionary paths various species of alien beings encountered share with familar Earth creatures, they can't be neatly fitted into taxonomic classifications because they're not Earth creatures, and evolved independantly.

Not trying to be pedantic--well, maybe a bit--but it would be a mistake to assume certain things about any of the 'Mass Effect' species simply because they look similar to something familar.
