So the Hammerhead (Hover-Mako) is going to be (free) DLC only?

I just stumbled across these news on a german website (4players.de)
http://www.4players..../11008/1996808/

I'll translate the text:
We were surprised during our first playthrough of Mass Effect 2 : We have not encountered any drivable vehicles.
As Ea now announced, additionally to the first free DLC (including amongst others the Mercenary Zaeed) which will be available upon release, there is going to be another free DLC which includes a drivable vehicle. The press release is as follows:
"(...) which includes the Hammerhead, a new vehicle in the Mass Effect universe. This versatile Hover-Tank is superior to steer on open terrain and safely maneuverable during combat - this is what players are going to need while exploring the hostile planets of the galaxy. Additionally to this vehicle, Bioware is going to release additional quests and items like the Cerberus Assault Armor which improves Shields, Health and Ammo for the heavy weapons, as well as the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun."

Sadly at this time there are neither screenshots nor the exact release date of the 2nd DLC available.

Where would you use it if you don't even use it in the main story? Uncharted Worlds seem to be treated more livable and closer to the action than ME1 so is there even a need for the hammerhead?

On top of that, it didn't mention it would be free. Only for the first one which will be available at release day. So maybe we will pay for having a driveable vehicle in the second chapter of the ME franchise? I like this EA policy, may we will have to pay for weapons other than a stick in ME3.

*just kidding, I know the situation isn't that dreadful... yet*

If that is true then anyone without the DLC may be in for some serious foot-slogging.

Yea no kidding. One would think the Hammerhead is critical to have in the main game. Why risk someone's code not working with that particular piece of day 1 DLC. Personally I think this is getting silly now.

I agreed with Bioware and their day 1 DLC because it was a relatively small amount of content you would have to download. Thus if an error occurs it is a relatively little amount you will lose. Thus less money to spend to replace.

Another money grab tactic? If the code fails to redeem the DLC then that means the players don't just have to buy Zaeed, but the mako, quests, armor, and guns? This I don't like.

Not really, it's a situation like Shale in Dragon Age.

They didn't have enough time to polish it on the level of the rest of content before they locked down the content for production.  So, they moved it to DLC so they could finish it.

Is Jav on these forums yet? I don't think I've seen him over here yet. :( I may have just not been looking though.

Wow...Way to sell yourself to the almighty dollar, BioWare.

Gonna make doing the uncharted planets hell unless we shell out money for a vehicle.

You don't have to shell out a ****ing dime if you buy a new copy of the game.  THIS IS THE SAME SITUATION AS DA:O.

Quit getting your goddamn panties in a bunch.

This is free content for anybody who buys a new copy.  There is a code-card in the box of all new copies that allows you to DL for free.  People who buy it used or pirate a copy will miss out, but that's life.

I am not sure if I even want the DLC. I am doing a me1 playthrough (for me 2) now and I hate those Mako parts. Seriously, how can anyone find driving over deformed terrain exciting?

I really doubt the main game is going to make you walk long distances because you can't download the Hammerhead.

What's probably going to happen is that they'll add in missions that utilize the Hammerhead.

Honestly, I don't think that's the case. The N7 missions that will be available from release will not require a vehicle, at all. They're tailor-made to be entertaining, intense, story-related and incredibly detailed missions.

I'm assuming that the Hammerhead will be included with at least one uncharted world with the Hammerhead's design in mind.

This won't be Day 1 DLC, so the planets we'll be exposed to prior to this DLC won't necessitate a vehicle.

I wouldn't worry at all.

:D I assume you're joking?

I doubt someone will show up trying to sell it to us. More likely, if there is a story reason for having access to it, we'll receive it from Cerberus...or from the Alliance, or the Council.

The Hammerhead seems like way too advanced of a piece of hardware to just have it sold to us by some random fence on the Normandy.

Oh yeah? Why should I suffer because some loser steals the game? Why make the people that actually pay for it (like me) suffer huh? When I shell out $65 for a game I expect it to come with all the bells and whistles needed to play it to full enjoyment, not go "Oh I need to go download a vehicle for this".

Just deserts for buying a game used or pirated.
