OK my idea is this:
Two differet types of online in one. The online should stay away from the story line. And have the same max level as single player does.
You created charchters in a castle that you own. That way there your own team mates. The castle is the starting place for players. It's there home. They can deco it anyway they want. And you can have hounds in there.
Basically it's free roaming. There are areas call combat zones. Free roaming allows you talk to people. Make friends. Safe zones- Your castle and towns. This is a basic Idea I have. It's like co-op without the other people needed. Your 4 person squad is what you created them to be. Never has a game done that before.
Your castle is your base. Your home. Your house. You build your town from rocks and make it the way you want it.
By the way Dalish elfs can make there castle into a camp ground that is forest base. Where Dwarf can have underground towns.
Also Golems can be made as teammates for dwarf players. And each race has it's own speical teammate that can be made.
This is only a few ideas for online.

If you are referring to the "social aspect" every EA game must have I am pretty sure they have already announced it with Heroes of Dragon Age which to me looks to be in the same vein as Dragon Age Journeys and Dragon Age Legends. The other reason why I think it might be the "social aspect" is that it is going to have unlocks in the game that are unlocked by playing the game or money similar to what Mass Effect 3 multiplayer (unsure if the items are random or you just earn points and buy what you want).
I truly hope this isn't going to be like other social games where the only way you can get good gear is to spend real money to buy it. I have a nagging and cynical doubt that this might be the case.

They have said everything you can buy with money you can earn in game and since its not tied to Facebook anymore I can see it happening, but actions will speak louder.

Doesn't the keep count as the online feature?
This is what I am hoping is sufficient to meet that requirement.

Probably not, but as I mentioned earlier I am pretty sure this will since they said that both Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 both met the "social aspect" requirements that EA was adding with Dragon Age Journey and Dragon Age Legends (which are still playable if you search for them).
The next iteration of those two games is Heroes of Dragon Age.

That why i suggest an online away from the main story. That way it won't ruin your story.

Well I'm going to go against the grain of most BSNers and say that I like your idea.
The concept of having a sandbox-esque game mode wherein players can engage in activities that aren't directly tied to combat, but without having to bog down the narrative is very cool (IMO). Being able to have your keep, and your Inquisition customized to your liking, and then having other players walking around in your little world, being able to socialize, customize, and kill some guys sounds very appealing.
I wouldn't mind playing such a mode, however I would ask that there be an (optional) purpose behind such a mode. A sandbox can only keep me ocuppied if there is an actual reason why I am there, and what I am trying to accomplish. One suggestion would be that the keep(s) of the host are his SP character's keep(s) and that as Agents of the Inquisistion we would have to defend them; maybe even assisting the SP game by protecting the keep(s) so that the SP Inquisitor wouldn't have to run around Thedas playing nurse maid to his or her holdings.
Even better if each player had his or her own keep in the sandbox world that was tied to their SP saves, and all would have to be defended sooner or later. Such a mechanic would encourage players to travel out into the wilds instead of just sitting around home base, and would make for interesting encounters if say the party came across a dragon on the way to assit one player's keep.
Another thing I liked about your idea was that if the host had access to Golems that the players could play as one of the constructs. I would like to see an expansion on that idea to where a player (if they have recruited certain allies in SP) can play as that ally. That way you can have parties comprised of wildly divergent characters; characters not tied to the four playable races of SP. I would love to be able to stomp around as a Sylvan (for example) while my friend tries out a Dalish archer, and our other friend is running around as a Malibari. Having such a varied assortmant of playable races/classes would help keep the mode fresh and interesting (IMO), especially if the players playing as such things could purchase and customize equipment for said creatures.

There = a place
They're = a contraction of they are
Their = possessive for either a group or a non-gendered singular
'That way they're your own teammates...'
'It's their home...'
'Dalish elves can make their castle into a camp...'

It more then a sand box. There are missions that can be repeated . And daily missions that grants you super rewards. Raids in dungeons. And exploring.
The golems are teamates. And Can be controlled by the player. And they are speical compaions for dwarfs. Malibaris the player would have control of.
You can have your own team. It's Your friends could bring there own charchter.
Again the online isn't from the story so your not the Inquisition. You are your own person. Your not a grey warden and your not hawke.
You are yourself. The name you chose for the last name of your charchter is what you want it to be. And that name can show up. And it can be used by mult people. However the caste name is your account name. Or otherwords your PSN or xbox gold name.
