I'm planning to start a new character for DAO, now that I finished Golems of Amgarrak with my "good" Warden, and I want to accomplish one simple thing with this new character. I want to cause as much chaos, destruction and death as possible... a 100% evil run, if you will. He's going to be a mage (because I thought that would maximize the chaos by making mages look bad), but I'm not sure what companions he'll bring along or what would be the ideal way to go through this. After all, I will be a squishy mage.

Any advice you can spare?

Make an exception when it comes to your companions.

Edit: If you have no other use for them whatever, at least your Warden will have a warmer bedroll.

Side note - when I did this it was a solo playthrough, so I was able to kill all of my companions (morrigan has to wait til witch hunt though, and oghren's a pain to get his approval low enough without feastday pranks). And spoilers, obviously.

Dwarf noble and city elf are probably the origins where you can be most unscrupulous, mage unfortunately doesn't get any real dick moments. Besides betraying jowan I guess, but I do that on my good playthroughs too. Kill pretty much anyone you get the option to. Prisoner at ostagar, mabari at ostagar, wounded guy in the wilds, merchant at lothering etc. Extort money from the rest. Kill the mages, kill the elves (while you're at it, learn arcane warrior from the gem then toss it), abandon redcliffe then let isolde sacrifice herself but let the demon keep connor anyway, defile the urn (bring leliana, unhardened), let branka make golems (bring shale if you didn't kill her at honnleath). Who to support is iffy, since bhelen's the "evil" guy but gives a better ending for orzammar. Let the alienage guy do the blood magic ritual, don't do the dark ritual. Dog dies before he's cured, leave sten in his cage, get oghren to -100 approval then kill him, bring leliana to the urn and defile it, wynne dies at the tower, kill zevran when he ambushes you, either alistair or loghain dies at the landsmeet and the other dies to the archdemon.

Support Harrowmont and preserve the Anvil. It basically dooms Orzammar.

If you kill both Leiliana and Zevran, you want to be a rogue. That's part of why my mage intimidated Leiliana into standing down rather than killing her.

I did the same with a female mage. She did all the dickish choices and everyone hated her. All the companions either got killed or left, except for Alistair. She thought it was worth romancing him in the hopes of making herself queen.

Egg all over her face when Alistair bit the dust killing Archie, spoiling all her ambitions, and her hero ceremony was led by a queen who despised her and consisted of no friends at all. I rather liked it. Felt like poetic justice.

My Warden got away with all his evil, was surrounded by friends, and had the love of the woman whose prophet he defiled. I prefered that one.

The Mage can have alot of fun with this kind of scenario. But its more manipulation and subtly in that path. Especialy if you betray the mages and have them anulled then ask for the automoy of the fereleden circle. Your sort of setting yourself up for power.

For a straight out crazed blood knight (Killing everything and everyone) play a female city elf instead, I suggest warrior.

Keep in mind you can kill Sten, Leilana, Wynne, Zevran, Shale, Logain and Dog. Alistair and Dog will always stay with you though and Morrigan and Ogren will just leave the party.

A number of the outcomes can seem dark/evil but actualy work out for the best so be careful.
