ME3 was probably the best of the series as an actual game. The combat flows much better than either of the other two and is actually fun and engaging in its own right rather than just some tiresome interlude between dialogue sequences. There was also real variety in the weapons and powers and even though a lot of them are useless it's a fun challenge to try out suboptimal builds and loadouts to try and make them work. The only problem here was that the game lacked any real diversity in enemy selection or any real bosses to speak of.

The story is also much stronger than people really give it credit for, since it's a lot tighter and focused on the central plot. There's a real sense of urgency and desperation in the air which was completely lacking in the first two games, where you can spend the vast majority of the time off ignoring the supposedly galaxy-threatening menace to drive around decrypting rocks or resolving your crew's daddy issues. The ending was obviously problematic, but some the earlier sequences like Tuchanka and Rannoch were truly epic and actually work much better if you go in without an import and actually have to deal with the repercussions of making the tough choices.

"Shepard! Millions are dying every day on Earth" - "Sorry, I'm too busy beating Aria's highscore at video game"

The problem is very simple - they just did the same main missions with mostly unrelated side quests as they did in ME1 and ME2 except that this time it doesn't work: In ME1, you had no idea where Saren looking for the conduit so it made sense to check out geth activity. In ME2, Shepard was mostly waiting for the Collectors to make a move so it made sense to use the downtime to sort out Jacob's daddy issues. In ME3, Reapers are everywhere actively murdering everyone so it doesn't make sense for Shepard to go on dates, play video games or waste time rescuing half a dozen quarians who are of no importance to anything.

Reapers ships are almost indestructible, and Cerebus is very evaisve. The side missions are somewhat reaistic, everyone needs an output.Him seeing death, loss, the power of the reapers would break his will and morale. Plus most side missions are for the war effort..

Fantastic game, and I love the ending also. The DLC was the best also, Leviathan had this creepy mystery vibe and shed some important backstory on the reapers, Omega was a bit plain but Citadel is much loved.

Nominally in that you get WA, sure, but the game never accounts for the time taken and opportunity cost for Shepard to travel the galaxy looking for that stuff: Hacket needs the turian drydocks to begin work on the Crucible, so every hour Shepard delays doing stuff (e.g. shopping, visiting Ash, saving literally two survivors on FB Ghost) will result in millions extra deaths.

They should have had a DEFCON-style counter, starting at 50 billion, say, and dropping by 100k every minute spent in game. If there are people left when you get to the end, you win.

Oh, yes, lets use a dictionary to put things completely out of context. The "inflammatory" that was used there is not the same one that was used in your case. Maybe you should use the correct definition for this case and stop trying to pretend that this is anything but flamebait.

With idiotic responses like this, in which you try to force your opinion, how could this not be anything more than an attempt to ****** people off?

I found that the enemies in ME3 were far more menacing than in ME1&2. The ME2 enemies are particularly non-threatening, almost cartoon-like in some cases. The brightly coloured asari and turian mercs, the silly Salarians with their huge, round helmets, the cute Fenris and Loki mechs (the chatter of Loki mechs remined me of the Portal sentry turrets). Even the Ymir mechs, while tough and deadly, were far too clean and shiny, compared to the ME3 Atlases. The Krogan were fairly tough, but the way they shuffle slowly toward you, in single file, made it hard to take them seriously. The geth and collectors were decent, but the rest, not so much.

Can you define the inflammotory that was used then?

I guess I am the undead then as I actually prefer the combat system in the first game to that in the second or third.

This I expect is in part because I didn't go in expecting a third person shooter. This was a Bioware title, I expected the dice-roll to be taking some part in the combat.

Plus for me it is far more fluid as there is no waiting around for powers to recharge, shields are actually useful, ammo mods aren't a power.

Gameplay wise the biggest thing I don't like about 2 and 3 are the combat changes.
