Teamxbox: "Players who access ‘The Cerberus Network’ will receive the first DLC
pack on January 26th (launch day in North America) featuring new
missions and in-game items. Included in this pack is a mission that
introduces Zaeed, a rugged and deadly gun-for-hire who is recruited to
join Commander Shepard’s mission to save mankind.

After launch, BioWare will release another DLC pack for Mass
Effect 2 that introduces the Hammerhead, a new vehicle in the Mass
Effect universe.
This agile hover tank features improved handling on
rough terrain and maneuvers deftly in combat -- a necessity for players
traveling across harsh planetary environments throughout the galaxy. In
addition to this new vehicle, BioWare will release new missions and
unique in-game items, including Cerberus Assault Armor which boost
shields, health and heavy weapon ammo and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun."

IGN: "Those who purchase the title new will receive exclusive access to the
'The Cerberus Network,' an in-game pipeline for downloadable content,
as well as daily messages and news on upcoming releases for the game at
no additional cost
. Acess requires players to input a single-use unlock
code that comes included with all new copies, retail and digital
versions."

Casey Hudson stated that the Hammerhead would be free to Cerberus Network members.

Zaeed, Hammerhead and an additional planet will be free.

The only caveat is that Hammerhead will not be released Day1 (but it shouldnt be too long after release).

If i have a chance later, i will address a number of the issues brought up on this forum, and hopefully set the record straight.

For now, I just want to reiterate that we care about our customers. The people (most of you, in fact) who are buying the game new deserve additional content. This Cerberus content is *additional* and it was not cut from the main game and given away. For a game like ME2, Casey and the production staff would never allow that. We have spent thousands of developer hours on this free content and know that it compliments the main ME2 storyline.

It seems we don't need this afterall.

Microsoft have gone and posted up all the dlc for free before the game has even been released.

I hope Bioware sort this out, as i have ordered the CE and i will be extremely p***ed if the people who managed to download it free, get to keep it.

However i cant say i'm surprised, what with the c**kup with the DA:O CE game, this was bound to happen.

Don't worry. This has been addressed. There were VERY FEW leaked downloads. Microsoft quickly closed the door as soon as they realized the issue.

Okey, so i got this preorder gamestop papper, which got the code for the termiuns armor an all. But I cant find out if its for xbox or pc. I have to go the website to redeem the code, but it does not point out that it is a pc specefic.

How do I know if its for pc or not?

Don't worry about it. We made sure that a code for either PC or Xbox will grant you the content for *both* platforms.

I really wonder how the hell MS XBL had the collector armor AT ALL on XBL, it is an exclusive CE item that you have to enter code into EA/Bioware social site to get.
It has NOTHING to do with MS/XBL, I smell BS right now.

Can you imagine if Cerberus network offered the collector armor and gun for free.
I would sue Bioware so hard it will make their grandchildren pay for it.

That is exclusive PAY for content.

How about Bioware inform us that this collector armor will remain exclusive to CE forever.

All promotional items (collectors edition and otherwise) are unlocked via a code and downloaded from the xbox live marketplace. These items are only visible to people who have the unlock, but the content is still downloaded from xbox live (from within the game). This makes a simplified user experience (we wanted one central place of downloading content for ME2).

Thank you for the response.

That explains the whole XBL thing then.
I would imagine the collector edition armor and gun is still exclusive? It can't not be downloaded for free or pay through Cerberus network I hope?

The reason why I ask for futher clarification is that I was led to believe that the incisor rifle is a digital CE exclusive and as far as I know there is no digital game download for Xbox?
Which makes one wonder how XBL has a PC exclusive item on it, as I said I'm a little bit confused and weary cause of MS mistake.

Just don't want to end up with a CE edition and find that all of the stuff can be had for free on Cerberus network anyway, or even pay.

absolutely not. if you buy the collectors edition, the collectors armor will not show up on xbl as a free cerberus download or for pay. it is for collectors edition members only. likewise with the inferno armor and the pre-order edition.

i'm a gamer too, and i know what its like to feel ripped off by game companies. our intent here is to try and add as much value to the editions for CE and pre-order as possible. i still think that we manage to do that (not withstanding the XBL mishap this morning).

Anyone here pre-purchase the DDE on steam? I am curious if we will get the Cerberus network card in the mail or if we should be expecting an e-mail with the needed details? The ME2 website says that digital customers will get it, or is that for the EA digital store only?

Well I purchased and alrdy downloaded my copy at the EA Store... was wondering about the same thing. Didn't get a code or conformation. However the manual did stated that once you've started the game Cerberus Network would be one of the options on the main menu, and there'd be steps guide to it. The only question left unclarified is where that code is supposed to come from, via email or whatnot.

PS: It'd be dreadful if it had to come inthe MAIL... considering I live in another country and so many things can go wrong with the mail.

I want to set the record straight here for the digital download versions (steam and ea store):

You should get your codes with your purchase. This includes your game cdkey (just standard stuff, no securerom here), your cerberus key (you will enter that key in the game when you register for cerberus network), and your key for your promotional content (which you redeem from the bw social site - and download the content to install). So, if you are buying a collectors edition or a pre-order for the DD - you should get 3 codes.

If you don't get your key - contact your retailer! Everyone should be getting what they paid for.

Michael Gamble: You have any idea when the cerberus network is going live?

it's ready for tomorrow. Normandy Crash and Zaeed are our Day1 offerings. Both are available for PC tomorrow. Normandy Crash is available for xbox, and we expect Zaeed to be up either Wednesday or Thursday.

Also, if you have any promotional items (not the free cerberus stuff, but th ebonus stuff if you got a CE or pre-order, etc) are also ready for tomorrow.

Any idea why those of us that registered our cerberus cards on the website are getting invalid codes when we try to access the network in game?

the code is a one-time consumable (that is why you are getting invalid codes, because it was 'used' on the website registration. if you registerd the code n the bioware social site, you have to make sure you also use the SAME ea online account in the game. if you logged in with the wrong account/accidentally created a new one in game, all you do is go to the options and turn auto-login off. that will allow you to then connect with the same account you used on the social site.

after you do that, it shouldnt prompt you to enter a cerberus code, it should see that you are cerberus entitled with that account, and open up the terminal window.

Am I missing something here? If you buy the game second hand, you have to pay to get onto this cerberus network? But isn't the network just to sell you DLC?

... You have to pay for the privilige of paying for DLC? Someone, please correct me here.

YES that's about right. They leverage it by including some free DLC which is actually very good.

ex: Hammer head hover vehicle, extra suits of armor plus launch day preorder armors, Collector Armor.
and so on and so on, So is it worth the 15$ ! Yes, because it includes the promise of more sometimes free DLC.

 Right now Bioware has me in an awkward position. I am bent over with my wallet open.

Yes and no.

Some of our DLC will be free, others will be paid.

For the free DLC (so far we have announced the shotgun/armor, zaeed, normandy crash, hammerhead) that will be cerberus network.

The paid DLC (to be announced later) will NOT require cerberus network.

It's probably been asked and answered several (gajillion) times so apologies for that, but:
Is the Cerberus card in the Collector's Edition the same as the one in the standard (DLC access-wise, at least)? Only reason I ask is that my game store had shipping problems with CE, so I have standard edition until tomorrow (later today actually) and I'll have to keep the Cerberus card that's in the standard edition.

I'm fairly certain I've read that they're the same, but I figured I'd double check.

Theyre the exact same.

The CE will give you another code for the collectors edition armor and inferno armor (since it was obviously a pre-order). If it was for PC youll get the incisor rifle too.

I want to make sure i have the correct cases in hand

Of all of the cases reporting issues:

are you 360 or pc?

are you redeeming your cerberus card on the social site, or in-game?

were you a collectors edition? did you also get a collectors edition card?
