Wow. You have to pay in order to pay for dlc? I hope that this bounty hunter guy is not part of the original 10 squad members. That would be really annoying if they removed him from game just so they could get game sales.

activation code*.

So people do not only have to re-buy all the DLCs when they buy ME2 from second hand (while the worth of the money the original owner spent on them vanishes into a black hole), but they also have to pay to access the simple possibility to use these DLCs, or to get to know when new DLCs arrive?

I already detest Bioware for making it so that the DLCs are not bound to the game or the game cd key, but also forcing second hand buyers to pay for access to the Cerberus Network is...unspeakable, it just makes me really sad and angry. How can a developer become so greedy?

Another reason I don't get why Bioware wants to limit the access for second hand buyers is that it would be in their best interest to let every buyer of ME 2 know, even those who bought it from second hand, that there are new DLCs. It's all about the money, I got that, but opening the Cerberus Network to all buyers would broaden the access of potential buyers.

This whole DLCs thing pisses me of. It's like a virus and it's spreading into the minds of developers who become more and more greedy with every passing year. It seems to me the whole gaming industry is rotting from the inside out. :(

Yes. Because wanting to make money off your product makes you greedy.

He was not removed from the game. The full game has 10 squad members, just like they promised. Zaeed is #11. He's extra. He was developed alongside the game to be downloadable content.

Ok, I get that all the 'Zaeed' and 'Hammerhead' DLCs will be free for all people who bought a new copy of the game (standard or CE)

Sry if I missed something, but where did you get the info that the hammerhead DLC is free as well?

From the ea news site

"The Cerberus Network' is a conduit for players to receive bonus content as well as daily messages and news on upcoming releases for Mass Effect 2 for no extra charge. It appears that you actually just pay for the service, and all the dlc is free.

If this is the case I like it much, MUCH better.

I'm really curious about the Network itself. It sounds like more than just a network to get downloads from, but more like a side service to run alongside the game. As in, even if you never used it to download anything, you'd still be getting updates and interviews and information. If that's the case, so long as they have some free DLC every now and then, it doesn't bother me.

The DLCs are too expensive. It's a fact for 99% of the DLCs (with the only exception for the Fallout 3 DLCs maybe). There is too little content for the price. Plus NICKjnp summed it up quite nicely:

You have to pay in order to be able to pay for DLCs.

THAT is greedy!

Which DLCs, the free ones? That you access for free? Did something get lost in translation here? Access to the network is free, and so is the launch day DLC. We've also seen no pricing at all for future DLC, so assuming it will be too expensive is absurd.

Also, too expensive to you is just fine for hundreds of thousands of other people. If it's too expensive, don't but it. But remember that it is only too expensive to YOU. If you are the majority, and it doesn't sell, prices will come down.

That's not a fact, that's an opinion. And since you certainly haven't played every DLC item every released, it's a weak opinion at that.

DLC is extra work. If Bioware does extra work, they have the right to charge money for it. It's not greedy to want money for something you did. And sense it seems like the Network is going to be a feature that offers more than just DLC content, you're not just paying for the ability to download.

Just to hammer this home even more, something cannot be objectively "too expensive". That cannot be a fact. If it sold reasonably well, then it obviously wasn't too expensive.

Hey, just wondering. It is possible to use another gamer-tag to download the DLC and then use my main account to play? It's a real **** trying to sign up for an account using my main as I keep getting some error.

*bump* Sorry! But would really like to know about this.

Umm, maybe I'll say it over again.

I cannot really use my main account which has all my ME saves and such to sign up for Xbox Live due to some 80150027 error. So I am wondering if I can use another account which can login to Xbox Live to download the DLC, pre-ordered bonuses and stuff and use it on my main account.

Help will be generous! Thank you!
Will really like to know this. Or any ways to solve the problem. :(

It is supposed to take some fiddling, but there should be a way to get it to work.

Since the DLC is tied to your EA account you would log into Xbox live with the account that works, then log into your EA account and download the DLC.

Then you'd log into the other Xbox live account, log into the EA account, and you should be good to go.

A tad bit confusing but I assume when you meant "you'd log into the other Xbox live account", you meant my main account, which sadly cannot access Xbox Live. Hell, I can't even sign up for an Xbox Live account through my Xbox, only recover gamer-tags. Thanks for the reply though!

If your main gamer profile cannot access the internet, as it were, then you will be unable to log into your EA account in the game. In that case, you are going to be stuck.

I would try and resolve the issues you are having with your live profile, before worrying about anything else.

@brunomalta  No man. I have no idea if I cannot sign up cause I hooked up my Xbox to my laptop or w/e. But seriously, this is my first time using Live (just for the ME2 bonus items), and I'm completely lost in this.

@izmirtheastarach Thanks for the help mate. If there's no other choice, I'll just have to use the account that can access Xbox Live and play through there. Haha. No chance of importing my saved playthrough from my main account to the account that can go online?

Sorry for asking so much. Not that savvy in this area.

Maybe you have some problems on the configuration. I had some too and after fiddling with it for a long time i managed to log in. Just hope that it is not a hardware issue.

Hopefully not. I also posted on the Xbox forum to get some help.

Ahh, I wasted quite a bit of time signing up for an account...typing passwords...selecting my free 1 month trial...seeing the loading bar after selecting my gamer-tag and agreeing to everything load 1/4 anddd -blam!- error.

... BW gets no money from second hand sales, this is a way to encourage people to buy new and support the developer (in which case they get free bonus stuff), or if they absolutley refuse, they have to pay to access the bonus content.

The CNC comes with some free content (zaheed or w/e), so if you buy access to it, your not just paying for the ability to pay for DLC.  BW has a right to charge extra for content outside the original game.  Anyone who buys used is still getting the full game that reviewers have already given amazing scores to, they just miss out on bonus stuff that people who support BW get.

Let me put this in bold so it sinks in.

YOU ARE GETTING THE FULL GAME, YOU ARE PAYING FOR TWO DISCS OF AWESOMENESS, ANYONE WHO BUYS THE GAME NEW OR SECOND HAND IS GETTING THE SAME FULL TWO DISC GAME.

Now, anything other then what is on the two discs that ship to you, is extra bonus content that BW has the right to charge for.

DLC isn't a virus... its consoles catching up to PCs.  Computer games have been getting content patches, user made content, mods, addons etc. since forever.  DLC is the console answer, its a developers way of extending the life of their product, getting some more cash out of something they worked hard on, and supporting its fanbase.

I know im going to want more of the mass effect universe after i finish ME2 and long before ME3 comes out.

The DLCs are too expensive. It's a fact for 99% of the DLCs (with the

You have no idea what BW is going to charge for its DLC this time around, or the quality of the DLC.  You don't have to pay in order to be able to pay for DLC if you just buy a new game.  If you buy a used game, you will need to pay for the content that comes free with a CNC...  Content that BW worked hard on, payed developers for, and deservers money for.

*sigh.*

It doesn't. The launch day DLC is free. Access to the network is free for anyone who buys new.
