Wow I was half expecting the Hammerhead not to be free I must admit, but this is great news! Not only that, but a planet as well. I have no idea how people can complain now, those three things sound worth the price even if you didn't buy the game brand new and have to purchase the network!

I do wonder how they will incorporate the Hammerhead though. Surely most N7 missions are not designed for vehicular combat if they utilize the Kodiak? Oh well, even if it can only be used in a few places at first, it's still great to see they havn't given up on the MAKO completely (because I wouldn't have begrudged them that).

The second DLC pack will include planet/s that come with the Hammerhead, its obvious since the main game you don't need the Hammerhead that the planet/s that come with the Hammerhead will allow planet exploration.

Definitely good news that the hammerhead is free! I was not expecting it for free as it will be out after launch day!

Anything that comes out of the Cerberus NEtwork is free as per stated from Dr. Greg and Dev in this forum. WHere Mass Effect 2 will have paid DLCs they wont be a part of the cerberus network.

While it was a believable story for Shale to have been cut from DA:O and added to the game by the DLC team: Having their very next game have the exact same DLC format with a bonus party member pretty much proves that they just took something out of the game and labeled it DLC to prevent used game sales.

I would rather give my money to Bioware then Gamestop. B)

It should be than instead of then. Than is used in comparision (i.e. I like this better than that); Then is used to tell someone what happened after (i.e. Then I went to the bathroom).

Cerberus Network is 15$ or 1200 MS just like SHale. And it would only be cheaper when the game gets down to 40$ on cost and that would be 6 months down the line.

And if you're planning on getting it used it would make no sense to get it any sooner than when the price drops significantly.

Agreed but if you are going to wait that long why not wait til the GOTY edition comes out with all the DLC and such for free for in some cases cheaper.

I really love this. Cerberus Network can provide a steady stream of free DLC, for smaller things such as Armor and Weapons, as well as N7 Missions, Characters and Vehicles, as well as planets. Already confirmed are the Zaeed, Normandy Crash Site and Hammerhead DLCs. Then obviously we would have to pay for the more expansive DLCs, but thanks Bioware. Awesome stuff.

A statement from Dr. Greg today seems to indicate that all DLC released through the Cerberus network will be free

I haven't read through this whole thread but have there been any specifics as to when we can expect the Hammerhead vehicle? All I've seen is "post-release". I hope it's relatively quickly. I'd like to jump in it as soon as possible.

Heh. I was XabiAlonso on the old forum since before he left, it was too much pain to be using that name every day. Now I use AlbertoAquilani and it gives me hope :) As long as he isn't a crock!

For now, I just want to reiterate that we care about our customers. The people (most of you, in fact) who are buying the game new deserve additional content. This Cerberus content is *additional* and it was not cut from the main game and given away. For a game like ME2, Casey and the production staff would never allow that. We have spent thousands of developer hours on this free content and know that it compliments the main ME2 storyline.

And know that we all appreciate it very much. :o

The hammerhead will get it's own missions, since the N7 missions aren't built around using the hammerhead. I'm guessing they will be reminiscent of the ME 1 planet fall style missions. So expect future DLC's to give you more missions for the hammerhead.

Hey guys,

I'm curious about this. I plan on ordering the collectors edition from Amazon.ca and chances are the game is not going to arrive on the first day of release.

Will I still have access to the free DLC that is being offered or is it only on the actual day of release?

I'm just a little confused about that aspect. Otherwise I won't pre-order and I'll get out to a store somewhere.

Day 1 is a phrase. It will be free for anyone who buys the game new its not a 24 hour sale.

Late to the thread but, wow, I think this is an excellent move by Bioware.

Great way to compensate for the second-hand market. Excellent way, in fact.

Honestly, this sounds awesome for the company and pretty good for the consumers (awesome for consumers would be free stuff all around, but that'd be bad for the company.)

It makes sense too, this way Bioware can add smaller things to the game that were overlooked and test the waters on newer ideas before going all out on some big expensive DLC that they're unsure of. Being able to see what is popular before spending lots of money incorporating it into some big planet sized side-quest will help them to make better DLC for the players and better profits for themselves it's win-win.
