I bought Forza 3 LCE for the same feature as the Cerberus Network offers: Free DLC to members who purchase a certain edition or a new copy of the game.

The catch was, you needed an Xbox Live Gold account to access the features, which they never told us we needed, leaving me SOL for accessing the content.

Will it be the same way with Cerberus, or will the content be free without a catch?

Only catch is active internet and you bought the game new. Forza is a horrible example that made by MS studios ofcourse they want to enforce their GOld membership.

I'm a little concerned that Bioware is putting in so many big changes (characters, verhicles) in DLC that comes after the release. Makes me wonder if they had a whole bunch of extra stuff that they couldn't fit on two discs and decided to make it all into DLC. Hmm...

To combat piracy? They don't get this content.

Maybe this has been covered and I missed it but.. Will the Network card be included in the regular retail edition or just the collectors edition?

I ask this because both Gamestop and Amazon specifically mention the network card as an extra in the collectors edition yet makes no mention of it in the regular one. So I'm a bit puzzled.

@RobertWL: all newly bought version of ME2 have the Cerberus card. Why hasn't it been advertised? Well, it's either devious ploy to make to CE look even beter, or it was just a simple screw up. Take your pick.

This. If all goes well, honest customers will have no problems getting the extra content, while pirates will have to jump through hoops to get it.
That and to make sure BioWare and EA can still get money out of the used game sales. If you don't buy a used copy of the game, you will have to buy the cerberus card extra.

Hey everyone, I just saw something. When I went to the Mass Effect 2 website, on the upper right hand side, it says "Cerberus promo code" with a code listed. What is this for? When I clicked on it it said one time use only so I'm afraid to redeem it seeing that I have no idea what it does.

I'm assuming that that is where you enter your cerberus network code to activate it with your ME2 game. That's probably where you enter all your other codes (such as Inferno or Terminus armour) to activate them in-game too. Btw, I think the code in the box is just an example of what the codes look like, so you know what to look for when you're looking for your code.

This looks pretty promising.  And a new companion you can't go wrong.  I'll probably put Boba Fett (or whatever his name was, all I heard was best bounty hunter in the galaxy and though Fett.) on my squad because bounty hunters are awesome.

Chris,

Can you provide some clarification on the following:

1. The Cerberus Network is being put forward as a free benefit to people who buy new copies of Mass Effect 2. How will this be different than buying DLC off of the Xbox Live Marketplace? Will the DLC not be on Xbox Live? If it is, what is the benefit? Free stuff?

2. The second Mass Effect 2 DLC pack includes the Hammerhead and accompanying missions and items. Is this free to those who have access to the Cerberus Network or do we pay for this DLC? If we pay for it.... with reference to question #1 how is the Cerberus Network a benefit?

This is a bit confusing. It's like creating a secondary marketplace and putting a premium on entry into the marketplace when there are other free avenues. Unless the Cerberus Network has exclusive (Free?) items.... I don't understand what is going on. Thanks.

I'm guesing they are doing this because BioWare knows Microsoft, being former bedfellows. This may be a way of either cutting them out or minimizing their involvement, MS doesn't like free DLC. They are all about the money.

I'd be thrilled if Bioware cut micro$oft out of the equation on DLC. I recently bought Army of Two: 40th day and couldn't get my pre-order bonus because my XBox live Gold had lapsed. They refused to let me use part of the product I paid for because they didn't get their cut. M$ has become the jackal, scavanging off the work of others.

Then again, I'm getting the PC version anyway. If WINE  or  Cedega would run ME2 properly I'd drop vista in the bin.

wow, I think I love you guys even more now. Good to know the Hammerhead will be free... now I can use the money I was going to spend on that on whatever other cool DLC is put out for MS2. I've got a lot of respect for Bioware.

The first DLC would be free but the others dlc's are not.Bioware want offer us a extended gameplay and u as player can choose to buy it or not.I have (like everybody here) seen the trailers and they have work hard to improve the game by listen to us.It is good that they put the game on 2 disk so that we have not "missing" something feeling. It reminds me of Wing commander 3 and 4 where they put the game on 3 to 6 disk and still is it one of my favo games because of the extended gameplay. I think u get more gameplay, more story for your money then games from other devs.I have say one thing: Bioware keep the good work!. And now i wait for the release to play the game

I may have misunderstood bioware when I read their info, but from my understanding the cerbrus network works more closely to a patcher system than DLC, as in all the cerb stuff is free, but their will be other DLC avaliable outside of the cerb network, this would also fit in with what I have heard about the cerb networks being accessable from the bridge, and the fact that they intend on slipping in bits of in universe news and all that, which personally i think is quite cool. So basically, as I said, if I was reading the stuff correctly, anything announced as cerb DLC will be free, and then other DLC may become avaliable, I suppose those ones will be like expansion packs, and cerb will be like patchs. intrested in the communities thought on this, maybe i've miss read stuff.

You input your codes here:

http://social.bioware.com/redeem/

Input my Terminus code already. Shows up on my account. Can't want to use that Blackstorm gun in game.

Hey guys, sorry if this seems like a really really stupid question. My brother has always been the one to get the DLC and stuff since we use to share an xbox 360. This year I finally got one of my own. How do i get the DLC? I don't have XBL, I don't think. Always shared with my bro.
