Hey guys, sorry if this seems like a really really stupid question. My brother has always been the one to get the DLC and stuff since we use to share an xbox 360. This year I finally got one of my own. How do i get the DLC? I don't have XBL, I don't think. Always shared with my bro.

Is your 360 connected to the internet at all... if not then you can't get your DLC (DLC = DownLoadable Content).

There will be 2 ways to get the DLC in Mass Effect 2... One is XBL (which will be the paid stuff) and the second will be via the Cerberus Network which doesn't need XBL but does need an internet connection to your 360. This will be all the free stuff I think.

If any of you have played Assassin's Creed 2 you will probably come across UPlay... My guess is that the Cerberus Network is going to work something like that. UPlay let me get access to DLC without using XBL.

Personally I think the Cerberus Network is great because I don't think Bioware have to send the software to Microsoft for certification first (I may be wrong) and we all know MS hate free stuff so this is probably a way around that.

Now all we need IS THE GAME TO COME OUT...  I hate you Americans... gonna get the game BEFORE US BRITS.
I am now going to hide in my cupboard and cry. Image IPB

Well, I think it does. How do I check?
Do I put in the Cerberus Network code on the Bioware/Mass Effect website in the redeem code section or something? Or does a screen pop up oin the 360?

The catch was, you needed an Xbox Live Gold account to access the
features, which they never told us we needed, leaving me SOL for
accessing the content.

Will it be the same way with Cerberus, or will the content be free without a catch?

wasent the case for DAO ( I got wardens keep on the day I got the game and I have a silver membership) plus they never stated so.

Definitely good news that the hammerhead is free! I was not expecting it for free as it will be out after launch day!

as stated here masseffect.bioware.com/info/cerberus/

Included in each copy of Mass Effect 2, for both PC (digital and
box) and X360, there is a Cerberus Network card with a unique
single-use code. Login to the Cerberus Network in Mass Effect 2 and
register your code to enlist! Once you are a member, Cerberus Network content is available to you at no extra charge.
Codes can be purchased separately as well. Follow the instructions from the Mass Effect 2 main menu for more information.

********************************************

my reasoning for why it cost money  for those who buy the game used is:

A. all content from the cerberous network is free they need to make money some way
B. yes  there is the obviouse incentive to buy it knew ,but no it doesn't end up costing more to buy used espcially when you add tax onto the buy, used games tend to at least ten to 15 bucks cheaper then when it is bought new.

C. that 15 is actually less then what you would spend if the actual dlc would cost (assuming each were at least 5 dollers plus hammerhead)

personally  think this is a MUCH better  method then they did with DAO and as such they have my thanks

Anyone here pre-purchase the DDE on steam? I am curious if we will get the Cerberus network card in the mail or if we should be expecting an e-mail with the needed details? The ME2 website says that digital customers will get it, or is that for the EA digital store only?

Well I purchased and alrdy downloaded my copy at the EA Store... was wondering about the same thing. Didn't get a code or conformation. However the manual did stated that once you've started the game Cerberus Network would be one of the options on the main menu, and there'd be steps guide to it. The only question left unclarified is where that code is supposed to come from, via email or whatnot.

PS: It'd be dreadful if it had to come inthe MAIL... considering I live in another country and so many things can go wrong with the mail.

Okay, I saw this asked but didn't see an answer. Is there a difference between the Cerberus network card all games get and the "Limited Edition" Cerberus network card listed as one of the features of the Collector's Edition?

That was a major reason I pre-ordered the CE.

Supposedly there's no difference but that remains to be seen.

I'd also like to know this.  Having pre-ordered from Amazon, I won't receive the game until Thursday so missing out on the day 1 DLC would suck.

I find it an ingenious move to withdraw certain content and then offer it, to those who purchased the game, for free. This is both an anti-pirating move as well as an effort to encourage new game sales (instead of used game, which means they lose a potential sale). I have no qualms with it since the content returns to us free of charge for purchasing the game.

Wish more people could see it this way as opposed to the general response of "OMG WTF? BIOWARE IS SOO GREEDY!!"

I also agree, but one thing about the $15 for the card for any who dosn't buy new is, they are already spending less on the game, so they arn't really paying more for it in the in first place. I mean the people I know who buy used or wait for a price drop are saving mre than $20 bucks more than I spend to get it new, so they still have that extra 5 bucks.

So dlc on launch day will be free? Does this mean that everything through the cerberus network will be free or just on launch day?

Teamxbox: "Players who access ‘The Cerberus Network’ will receive the first DLC
pack on January 26th (launch day in North America) featuring new
missions and in-game items. Included in this pack is a mission that
introduces Zaeed, a rugged and deadly gun-for-hire who is recruited to
join Commander Shepard’s mission to save mankind.

After launch, BioWare will release another DLC pack for Mass
Effect 2 that introduces the Hammerhead, a new vehicle in the Mass
Effect universe.
This agile hover tank features improved handling on
rough terrain and maneuvers deftly in combat -- a necessity for players
traveling across harsh planetary environments throughout the galaxy. In
addition to this new vehicle, BioWare will release new missions and
unique in-game items, including Cerberus Assault Armor which boost
shields, health and heavy weapon ammo and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun."

IGN: "Those who purchase the title new will receive exclusive access to the
'The Cerberus Network,' an in-game pipeline for downloadable content,
as well as daily messages and news on upcoming releases for the game at
no additional cost
. Acess requires players to input a single-use unlock
code that comes included with all new copies, retail and digital
versions."

I have got a really important question. Its always been stated that the DLC is free launch day (26 january) but thats only the US my country(australia) and europe dont get it until the 28th and 29th do we get it free as well? ill be getting the game 28th and in the US that would be the 27th not sure what the europe date is compared to the US date but i expect it to be 2 days after.
