Still hope we will get a trailer about the DLC and the Cerberus Card...

All the Dragon Age DLC got trailers, including Shale/The Stone Prisoner, so that's a good sign

So, I understand that the day-one DLC is free, but that article mentioned "A second DLC pack, set for release "after launch" will included the Hammerhead, a new hover tank for players to take control of, along with 'new missions and unique in-game items, including Cerberus Assault Armor which boost shields, health and heavy weapon ammo and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun.'"

Now, is that stuff free as well? (I understand if you can't confirm at this point, but it would be nice to know :)

I never liked how they handled DLC in ME1. It looks like they redid ME2 specifically to allow DLC. As long as the DLC is long enough and with enough quality, I'm not going to mind this at -all-.

It always boggles my mind when folks complain about good DLC. Yes, if it sucks that's one thing but I'll gladly pay $5-$10 for an extra 2-10 hours (depending on DLC). That's a movie. And I get to replay it on multiple characters with new toys? Sure. Worth it.

I do hope they don't do too many microsales, but nevertheless.

I'm guessing no. This initial stuff will be free, then they go back to charging for it. I could be wrong.

oh? i see.
how about the hammerhead ? is that gonna be charged aswell =/? well i guess we gonna have to wait for more information about this cerberus network thing cause from what i read on the first post it practically say if you have the cerberus card you get stuff free of charge. buh oh welll :3

The Cerberus card gives players access to the Cerberus Network? And it comes free with any new copy of the game?

What about in the UK? According to GAME retailers, the cerberus card is only available in the CE version of the game, i personally find this a bit of a kick in teeth as all of the day one DLC won't be available to people with standard versions of the game.

Does anyone have a confirmation that this is the case, that the card and the subsequent DLC is only available from the CE game in the UK?

I'm fully expecting to have to pay for the Hammerhead since it not available from launch. But, I'm naturally cynical, so *Shrug*

The first post say, you get the Day1 DLC. But it doesnt mention if we get other dlc for free.

I would pay for the DLC if the price is right. So if the DLC have a nice story, with new planets, then it is worth to buy. But it is only Armor Upgrade or other things, than not.

So is this for all new purchases, both before and after the release date? Because then that should be fine with most people.

Translation: We've putting a s***ton of stuff for you to unlock in this game. But only if you buy it, like you're supposed to.

Sounds good to me. Cerberus Network itself will more likely serve as the DLC interface for future paid downloads, similar to Dragon Age's.

Both discs are FULL, read it: FULL. That first DLC is under 500 megs, and free, then the next content which will most likely be less than a month later, the one with the armor, shotgun and Hammerhead, will also be FREE.

My guess is small weapon additions and a few planets and maybe a few missions will be periodically added as FREE content. Larger type DLC like Expansions or maybe a an entire Cluster addition complete with its own group of Solar Systems and Planets, and maybe a large weapon and armor pack, that kind of stuff will COST.

Voice actors cost money you know. The whole, they are money grubbing thieves argument gets old once you realize how much money it takes to make the DLC, some of what you will be getting for free, cost money. There is no way that the Day One DLC and the group after that didn't cost a pretty penny to make. Though from the sounds they did have to cut that out so they could fit everything onto 2 discs, but they are releasing it for FREE, don't complain.

It will be interesting to see how many more gigs ME2 will have expanded by the time ME3 gets released.

Heh heh, I wonder where the fanboys and the fanboys of fanboys who have attacked anyone who dared to claim that the Hammerhead was not in the game, and that the reviewers were either under an "embargo" or were so stupid as not to find a tank aboard the SR2, are now?

I think it would be a great business move to offer access to free DLC (Cerberus Card) with new purchases of the game, but charge anyone else for DLC. Essentially the company makes the new copy of the game the cheapest way to own the game and DLC content. Also serves as incentive not to pirate.

Not saying that is how it will be, but it makes business sense to me :)

Still, the MAKO was hit and miss with me. Getting around places faster in a cool looking vehicle was nice, everything else about it I wasn't a huge fan of, especially regarding the UNC. So I'm going to be playing the "wait and see" game, to make sure the Hammerhead content will be something I would actually enjoy.

Huh. Calm and reasonable responses so far. So this is the Mako replacement that they would neither confirm or deny. So people who don't get the Hammerhead, are they stuck traveling vehicle maps on foot? That sucks.

The day one stuff and at least the hammerhead, considering how long they had been talking about the hammerhead and there was a video where you could see concept art for Zaeed from a long ways back, those to groups of DLC were most likely cut for 2 reason.
1. Add Additional Polish
2. Couldn't Fit In 2 Discs
But both seem likely to be part of the original ME2 budget, devs correct me if I'm wrong.

I am
a little unsure of that, since the only mention I can now find of the
Cerberus Network card is on the CE. And Chris could be wrong. There's
no guarentee that it will be the same in all regions, and they do love
to make the UK bend over sometimes. just look at the DA:O CE.

Its not a Network CARD, its just a pice of paper with a code on it, please people stop takeing your imagination to the extreme.

BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), today revealed ‘The Cerberus Network’, an in-game portal in Mass Effect 2 that will keep fans engaged with the rich and dynamic Mass Effect universe through downloadable content (DLC) and news. ‘The Cerberus Network’ is activated exclusively by original purchasers of Mass Effect 2 through a single-use unlock code that comes included in retail and digital versions of the game worldwide. ‘The Cerberus Network’ is a conduit for players to receive bonus content as well as daily messages and news on upcoming releases for Mass Effect 2 for no extra charge. For players who do not buy the game new, ‘The Cerberus Network’ can be unlocked through a one-time, in-game purchase of a new activation code*.

I like pretty much everything I saw, and I'm hoping Bioware does add a ton of extra N7 side missions post-release as they're apparently a very meaty part of the main game this time.

The only part I'm a little confused by is the Hammerhead pack, as the press release was vague on pricing details with that. It doesn't say that it's free exactly, only that all Day-1 DLC is. Only problem is it said the Hammerhead pack will come "after launch".

I don't mind paying for it if the price is reasonable, just curious.

There is a good chance that the DLC on launch day is just some things they didn't get finished and tested in time to put it on the disc.
