Also it sounds like once you have you have access that's it. In other words once you use the code, your account has access, so if you, for some crazy reason, sell they game then buy it again used later down the road, you will still have access to the Cerberus Network.

I believe you are correct. What I fail to understand is how is having access to the Cerberus Network a benefit. Do you get free stuff if you have access to the Cerberus Network and you'd have to pay for the same content if you only had Xbox Live? Will this content not be made available on Xbox Live, which turns this more into a direct storefront for Bioware/EA (which I'm fine with I feel I should note)? It's a bit confusing.

If you look at what was done with Dragon Age, whether you use Bioware points and buy stuff through the game or if you buy stuff with Microsoft Points through Xbox Live.... there is no difference. The content is priced the same and is available at the same time in both marketplaces. So.... what will the Cerberus Network do differently?

Like I said up there, I believe its a benefit because their network allows them to sent DLC directly to you, I think they are trying to go around Microsoft. Your still using XBL but their Cerberus Network seems to act differently. It remember it being mentioned that you get patches this way, as opposed to the normal way things are updated. They really seem to be cutting Microsoft out of the process. MICROSOFT DOESN"T LIKE FREE DLC.

Or more likely its a form of anti-piracy. Sure you can pirate the game but you wont get all the goodys as some1 who bought it.

Anti-piracy is obviously not something being attacked here.  Pirates can obtain DLC just as easily as, if not more easily than, legitimate customers.

No, this is dealing with used game sales.  They get no profit at all if you buy the game used, the store is the only one that gets a cut.  With this, they still have a chance of getting it from legitimate customers through the whole Cerberus Network thing.

I know caps are frowned on but people aren't reading, so here is an all cap recap.

1. CERBERUS NETWORK COMES WILL ALL NEW COPIES OF ME2, NOT JUST CE
2. DAY ONE DLC IS FREE
3. REDACTED: DEVS CONFIRMATION ON WHETHER THE HAMMERHEAD DLC IS FREE WOULD BE NICE
4. THE CODE IS A ONE TIME USE, YOU USE IT YOUR ACCOUNT HAS ACCESS TO IT
5. IF YOU BUY ME2 USED AND DON'T ALREADY HAVE ACCESS TO THE NETWORK ON YOUR ACCOUNT YOU HAVE TO PAY TO GAIN ACCESS
6. ACCESS GRANTS YOU THE DAY ONE DLC AS WELL AS THE HAMMERHEAD DLC
7. FOR ALL APPARENT PURPOSES THE CERBERUS NETWORK WILL FACILITATE THE AQUISITION OF ALL DLC, SOME FREE SOME NOT, ALL DLC OF VARYING SIZES FROM ARMOR/WEAPONS TO PLANETS AND MISSION AND CHARACTER AND EVEN ENTIRE EXPANSION.

I will say this again they seem to be trying to cut Microsoft out of the process as much as possible.

Exactly. And I like this idea. They seem to have found a loop-hole to allow free DLC on the 360.

You will need to be one XBL, can't connect ot the interent if your not signed on, then most likely log into your EA account.

Yep, and if they indeed found a loophole like it sounds they did, EG this is our own Secure Network, still uses MS points when we sell DLC you will get proceeds bbut as it is our own seperate network any content we wish to pass onto the consumer free of charge is none of your concern, you still have exclusivity with the ME trilogy, if this is the case I believe that makes BioWare the first company in the indusrty to get out from under MS and wind up on top.

Ubisoft seems to be doing something similar. Though they have the whole point earning thing. Still same concept, their own Network, only interacts with MS in that the Xbox needs to be connected to XBL to access it.

I hear what you're saying but you're assuming that we'll get real bonus content for free out of the Cerberus Network. I suppose I'm somewhat skeptical looking at my experience with Dragon Age. I believe you are also correct that this is probably about cutting Microsoft out. It just bugs me the whole buying access to the marketplace. Slippery slope.

BTW, where does it say that the Hammerhead content will be Free?

So we have to be online to play the game if we download stuff?

Here I am off tweeting and stuff about other Mass Effect 2 goodness and the press release sneaks right past me.

So yes, we can now confirm the Cerberus Network does indeed allow registered users to access DLC, the Zaeed character (which did get leaked a tad early. Thank you Norway  ) and that we have a lot of N7 missions and more content to come in the future.

so chris will these tiny little things be free to download or will they cost us?

It doesn't misread it. My bad, corrected my all cap recap.

Not on the 360 unless you change your console in which case you'll need a license transfer. If you understand how DLC licenses work on the 360 you should have no problems. I fixed my DAO bonus item license issuein less than 5 minutes and got back to palying offline without a problem.

I fail to understand how you reached this conclusion. I have my Xbox plugged in to the internet and I remained connected, but you would only NEED to be connected if you wanted to use the Cerberus Network to download something, you don't need the Cerberus Network to play the game, as such you don't need to bew connected to the internet to play the game.

About the Hammerhead, this is to the devs, if you make it cost that will be a major d!ck move. You have been talking about it so long it was obviously in the ME2 pre-DLC budget, don't tell us to pay for something that should have come with the game.

All signs point to being free. But we will have to wait for some more information.

I'm curious if Zaeed will get his own Recruit/Loyalty achievements (considering that he is a mercenary that's getting paid to help Shepard).

Will all versions of the game come with this code, because when i look on amazon, they only say the code is available with the collectors edition of mass effect. I preordered the regular edition though so hopefully i receive it.

Shale DLC had two achievements in Dragon Age (and this seems to be Shale-like).

Yes, they will. Don´t worry.
