so.... how can you use the hammerhead in the main game, then? surely you'd have to have specifically-designed planets for it, which surely aren't in the main game, then?
Yes. It will be bundled with it's own N7 missions. They allude to that in the press release.
yes they do allude to it, but that's not proof, and just how many would we get - enough to justify a whole view vehicle?
I wan't saying that it was. Just that it makes sense. If you've watched the polish gameplay reveal that popped up yesterday, you can see there would be no point in having the Hammerhead in the normal N7 missions.
So the only way to use it would be in a map specifically designed for it.

Q: Is the CN card in every copy or just the Collectors Edition
A: It's all copies of the game.
Q: [Retail Store] doesn't list the CN card in the contents of the standard edition. Do I have to pay for it?
A: No. It's in all copies of the game.
Q: But I checked with [Affiliated Retail Store] and they listed it with the Collector's Edition stuff. Is it exclusive for the Collector's Edition?
A: No. It's all copies of the game.
Q: I'm from [some country] and the CN card isn't listed as being part of the standard edition. Do I have to import a copy to get a CN card?
A: No. It's all copies of the game.
Q: I heard a rumor that the CN card is only given to people who buy the CE. Is that true?
A: No. It's all copies of the game.
Q: Do I need an internet connection to download DLC?
A: No. If you don't have an internet connection, you can tie one end of a string to a tin can and the other end to your PC/XBox. Then, just mail the tin can to Biowared. For higher speeds, use piano wire.
Real A: Yes, of course you need an internet connection.
Q: I have an internet connection, but I didn't buy the Collectors Edition. How do I get the CN card?
A: You already have it. It's in all copies of the game.
Q: Someone said that everyone gets the CN card. Do they mean everyone, or just everyone who buys the Collectors Edition?
A: Everyone who buys the game from a retail seller will get the CN card.
Q: Do I have to pay for the free DLC I get through the CN?
A: No. You don't have to pay for free DLC.
Q: I want to get the free DLC, but my local retailer is sold out of the Collector's Edition. What am I supposed to do?
A: Buy the standard edition. The CN card is in all copies of the game.
....
There. Does that cover it? Anyone else want to ask who gets the Cerberus Network Card?

I'd argue it's not crisp and clear. I'd call it vague. It could very well be stating that the "daily messages and news on upcoming releases" are provided at no additional cost to the DLC. Note that even if "no additional cost" refered to the entire sentence, not just the daily messages and news, it didn't say DLC. It said "an in-game pipeline for DLC" - which is the network. So it could also be intepreted to mean that the Cerberus Network access is free, rather than the post-Day 1 DLC itself.LuPoM wrote...
To relieve the doubts of some people, it's written here, and it's quite clear:
Those who purchase the title new will receive exclusive access to the 'The Cerberus Network,' an in-game pipeline for downloadable content, as well as daily messages and news on upcoming releases for the game at no additional cost. Acess requires players to input a single-use unlock code that comes included with all new copies, retail and digital versions.
...
If you're thinking about buying Mass Effect 2 used, BioWare says fans will have to pay for an activation code to join "The Cerberus Network," though pricing for a code was not revealed in the announcement.
Taken from the IGN article here: http://xbox360.ign.c.../1061782p1.html
It's crisp and clear, Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder, BioWare and Group General Manager of the RPG/MMO Group of EA, said that with the code included in the new copies (normal or ce), EVERY DLC-Update-Small Addon for the game (that is made available throgh the Cerberus Network) is FREE (since it's included in the price of the game itself), while who buys it used, has to pay the access for it.
We just have to wait and see at the game's release
I'd say clarification is necessary before people put their blind faith behind something that may well prove not to be true.
When they say "will recieve on", they mean "is released on". It's not an America-exclusive one day offer.Lucas_Is_Calling wrote...

Do you have an internet connection? If your answer is no, then...
....[takes a few deep breaths]...
...then you don't need to worry about DLC. Sell your Cerberus Network Card on Ebay.
If you have an internet connection, then an XBox Live Silver account is free. Sign up for the silver account. Download the DLC. Done.
And so help me, if you're a PC user...

Teamxbox: "Players who access ‘The Cerberus Network’ will receive the first DLC
pack on January 26th (launch day in North America) featuring new
missions and in-game items. Included in this pack is a mission that
introduces Zaeed, a rugged and deadly gun-for-hire who is recruited to
join Commander Shepard’s mission to save mankind.
This sounds cool. Of course it is the exact same thing DA:O did with Shale. So long as its free I don't mind, encourage new game sales, discourage 2nd hand sales, blah, blah, blah, all good.
After launch, BioWare will release another DLC pack for Mass
Effect 2 that introduces the Hammerhead, a new vehicle in the Mass
Effect universe. This agile hover tank features improved handling on
rough terrain and maneuvers deftly in combat -- a necessity for players
traveling across harsh planetary environments throughout the galaxy. In
addition to this new vehicle, BioWare will release new missions and
unique in-game items, including Cerberus Assault Armor which boost
shields, health and heavy weapon ammo and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun."
This not so good. Sounds like they decided to cut a large portion of the side missions out and sell it off as DLC. I'm assuming this one is not free? This one seems kinda "EA'ish" to me, pardon the term. <_<

The DLC for Dragon Age (XBox, of course) can be purchased using MS points. I don't see why ME2 would be different.

Why? All this stuff needed to be in the original game. It's ALREADY MADE AND DONE. They'll just wait a bit to release it for DLC. Now I'm ok with it if they're doing this to lower used game sales, BUT if they offer the DLC for a price that will be just wrong. Just, wrong. Maybe later, BIG dlc they can offer for a small price that is developed AFTER the game's release. But offering the ones that are already made (the hammerhead one specifically) is just wrong and merciless.
