What I want is consoles with Mouse and Keyboard support!

This would be a useful feature.
I think the advantage of PC over latest-gen consoles, as far as playing Dragon Age goes, is mainly the mouse and keyboard controls. Pointing things is easier with a cursor than a joystick or even a touchpad.
Graphics are surely going to be pretty good on PS4 and XBO and they probably are going to be cheaper than a PC able to run the game in equivalent settings, even in a year of time.

Just wanted to say thanks to Bioware for listening to all of us who posted begging for controller support. Really appreciate that Bioware is finally catching up to other developers and including controller support in the PC version of this game. Hopefully they'll also include it in the PC version of Mass Effect 4.

Hey, could someone explain something to me? I keep reading stuff like the italed bit here

And even if I do end up saving enough money for a comp by then it would be nice if it is something that catches on, it opens up a lot of multiplayer possibilities where PC and console players can play with/against each other finally since PC users will no longer be completely superior to controller users and therefore incompatible.

If controllers really are worse than mouse + keyboard, why do any PC players want to use them?

At PAX, we confirmed that, yes, we will be supporting controllers for the PC build in addition to the custom PC interface. #DAI

Also animated bows with bowstrings.

Original post:

Call me crazy, but I actually enjoy the console version of DA2 over the PC version (I own both), purely because of controls.

I would love it if DA:I had controller support with the PC version because I simply prefer it that way. I understand some PC tacticians love the M&K and I hope they get a great system for DA:I, I would also just love controller support.

Heck, I would pay a few bucks for controller support DLC if it costs so much to port over.

Thanks guys, keenly awaiting the sequel to Dragon Age 2, my favorite DA game :P

I would agree that I prefer console controls to PC controls simply because my reaction time kind of sucks and the simplified controls for console help me make up for that. Which is why I am a bit hesitant to try DA:O on PC when and if I finally get a decent gaming PC. But I probably will anyway because I want to mod the stuffing out of it.

I agree that while mouse and keyboard can be better for tactical combat and precision, I do prefer having fewer keys to work with, at least for right now. Maybe if I had time to learn the different set up however, I could probably do both. Still, I support having both console and PC controls.

Building a specific PC mouse-and-keyboard UI is our priority for PC;

This is the most important thing when doing PC versions in a multiplatform production. Most people nowadays priotise better graphics on PC, which I don't care about at all. Just add proper anti-aliasing and make the game run stable.

I can't confirm any specific details yet, but I will point out that handling multiple sources of input simultaneously (as you suggest) adds a lot of complexity both in programming and QA, especially as the rest of the UI needs to match the input scheme in use. Building a specific PC mouse-and-keyboard UI is our priority for PC; being able to use controller input on PC is nice and largely possible because we build that specific interface for consoles anyway.

I understand. Thank you for your response, Seb! I've seen other games to do this - like AC3 and SRW3-4 - but thinking on it further, the fact that the actual UI is identical, with only the inputs being swapped and the graphic prompts on screen, makes a significant difference in workload, no?

Pretty much, yeah.

What the hell? I haven't been on the boards much recently but please tell me this isn't the case. Are you saying that the PC is going to have those craptastic console interfaces now? No hotbars? No keyboard shortcut keys?

I thought when the first demo footage came out we were told that the PC interface woould be optimize for a PC experience.
