I've just been playing through the original Mass Effect again on the Xbox 360 and I've notived something a bit... strange.

If you stand near the bar (towards the stairs seems to be most noticable) a peculiar, growly voice can be heard in the background - it actually sounds quite a lot like the vorcha from ME 2 & 3. It isn't a one off - it happens every time I enter Flux on all my saves. I can't make out the words, but there doesn't seem to be any source to account for the sounds.

Is it some sort of distortion of an existing sound effect? A glitch in the game? Is it the ghost of a long dead programmer who now haunts ME disks (he comes out of the telly if you say his name three times)?

Seriously though, Ive searched the web for any reference to this phenomena but I'm drawing a blank. Has anyone else noticed this? If not could someone try this out (If this only happens on my game I really am going to start thinking my disk is haunted)? I'd be very interested if anyone has an explanation.

It is definitely not English, but you're right it does sound vaguely Vorcha.

I think its supposed to represent poorly hear background conversation. I can't really make out anything. But at least you know it is not specific to your game.

I'm not convinced. Surely if they wanted background conversation they wouldn't record a freaky, creepy scratchy voice for this, in a foreign language (seriously, go into flux and listen to it - It sounds like Satan practising Klingon)? Also, if this is the intention why can't it be heard in similar environments like Chora's den?

I just noticed that the sound you hear in Flux is the same sound you get when fighting Krogan.

Err... you might need to elaborate on that one.

When you fight Krogan they sometimes make this "gotcha" sound. Hard to describe exactly. Anyway, that guttural sound you hear in Flux resembles that. Try this, Go to Feros and go to that room with the geth transmitter with 3 Krogan guarding it. Listen for the battle sound. Now go back to Flux and compare.
