This is a thread for all the "old-timers" out there...

Remember back in the day, walking down to the local arcade on a rainy day? Just you & some friends and as many quarters as you could scrounge up? Galaga,SFII, MK, TMNT, X-men arcade cabinets?

Ah... good times...

I used to walk down to the arcade almost every day after school to play Rolling Thunder, Xenophobe and Double Dragon. So much fun. 80s arcade era!!!!!!!!

My big one would be when I started geting into music games. I remember walking into gameworks in the early 2000's and saw the flashing lights and glowing floor of the machine. It was DDR USA Mix, and it was one of the best moments of my life. I eventually discovered Blaster's Family Fun Center, a place in michigan that had just about every music game you could imagine. And of course there were tournaments.

One place I used to head to was Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, it had some classics that'd be hard to track down.

I guess most people have gone through the DDR craze as well.

If I didn't live in an apartment, I'd totally put one in my entertainment room.

Looks like someone mixed Zoolander, DDR, and Mad Max in one trailer. Pretty cool. Just a heads up, might want to add a NSFW in the post. Still very funny though :P

The Simpsons Arcade game was pretty cool back in the day. X-men arcade game was a welcome edition. I really loved the first time I played Daytona USA, makes me miss racing games :|

I remember my grandfather taking me around the arcades in the early '80s... so I could watch him playing whatever was new!

Some pizza joint in Seattle had these three badboys tucked away in a corner. Pizza outings ranked up there with Christmas and snow days.

Most malls in my city use to have arcades when I was a kid, which I really miss. Now I just see smaller ones as part of movie theaters.

Donkey Kong jr., Yie Ar Kung Fu, Karate Champ, and Dragon's Lair were my go to arcade games. Dragon's Lair was awfully expensive at 50 cents a play, but incredibly awesome at the time.

There was an arcade at the mall and at the olde part of our town. It was always a matter of trying to find the right game to play with the lil bit of change that we had. Sometimes we'd play dope things, and other times it would be the suxxorz.

Hologram games FTW! Those along with the anticipation of flying skateboards (thank you Back to the Future 2) made me believe that my future would be a marvel of technology and space
exploration.

I played this thing a couple of times and I had no idea what to do wasting at least 2 quarters. That feels when you play an even more expensive game (I'm talking 4 quarters here!!!) and you die or fail after only playing for a scant few minutes.

I swear I could have bought a car with the quarters I spent in arcades. My buddy was addicted to (and freaking good at) Galaga, Xevious, and one I can't recall the name of now **edit** AH! Tempest. Ye gods, he was good at that one.

I was more into things like Pengo, Q-Bert, Wizard of Wor, and pinball. Ah, I loved pinball. ShepnTali mentioned Dragon's Lair. I recall dropping rolls of quarters into that bloody thing as well.

I played most of the arcade style games on early consoles and computers. I didn't play actual arcade machines that often. Not enough coin so to speak.

Oh wow, I spent HOURS at Aladdin's Castle when I was a kid. Our dad would drop us off there, while he shopped at Montgomery Ward for who know's what. We played everything we could get our mitts on - Donkey Kong, Asteroids, Pac Man, you name it.

A couple of times while we were in Vegas, (a few years back), we stopped in at the Pinball Hall of Fame. They've moved to a new, larger location since we were there last, but I'm sure it's just as great as it was then. It's a nice respite from one-armed bandits, heat, and overpriced beer.

Submarine , Tempest, Night Driver , Frogger, Centipede, and of course Pacman and DonkeyKong. These were the gateway drugs for me.
