  To play without Varric in your party? Honestly I just find it so hard not to have this awesome Dwarf in my party. I am going through again as a DW Rogue Shadow/Assassin, just began and trying to figure out who to use in party. First time was Varic, Anders, and Merril, but I want to switch it up but I really don't want to exclude varric..but I want a really good praty for my Rogue so maybe Varric, Merrill, and Isabella. Not sure, what do you guys think?

I rarely use Varric unless I need him for lockpicking.

I've never not used a warrior in my playthroughs. So I think that group would be fun but difficult. Tell me how it goes!

One my first go I used My self (DW Rogue), Varric, Anders, and Merrill got to Act 3 with no major problems some would die but not a lot. This was on Normal. The only warrior I would use would be Aveline as my tank. But I always used her before. So yeah I am going to try Varric, Merrill and Isabella/Sabastian see how that goes.Merrill is my second favorite.

I tended to favour Sebastian in the late game, as he was a bit more durable than Varric.

Didn't find Varric's lock picking skills that great.

I almost always have him with me for RP reasons. I want Varric to have as first-hand an account of Hawke's adventures as possible.

Reading here on BSN you get the impression he's dynamite in combat, though I can't say I've ever really noticed him being anything more than reasonable.
