Don't make Qunari women shorter than human men. And don't make Varric (or any other possible dwarven LI) only avaliable to other dwarves. Don't reinforce the tired old "the woman must be shorter than the man" garbage. Please.

Ha. I always thought that was just my eyes or the angles people were standing at or differences in horizon ... but now that you've confirmed that for me ... and that I've checked a few Youtube vids to be sure ... @_@ that's ridiculous.

Sorry. I hadn't realized that the elves had been tweaked beyond their facial features.

In DAO, elves were scaled down versions of the human rigs (so were dwarves, if you're curious).  In DA2, they are actually a distinct model.

Though suggesting that it was intentionally done to ensure that male elves will be taller than even female humans is a bit of an adversarial position to take (and ultimately one that just turns into he-said/she-said since there's likely not much in the way of what we could say that could convince you otherwise).

Why should they?

There's nothing saying that they should or shouldn't.

They are, however, drawn and created by human beings and with that implicit assumptions will occur.

However, stating the following comes across as a rather hostile perspective:

And the height of elven men was upped in DA2 to make them the same height as human women, because, y'know, if men are shorter than their women the world folds in upon itself.

You immediately will put me on the defensive, which means you now must break through my irrational humanity as the implication that I (or my colleagues) may have had biased (and discriminatory) reasons for the decision is going to create an unnecessary wall of resistance that never needed to be created.

I personally would actually argue that reality should be the default state for any creation, and that deviations occur from there.

That's one perspective and it's fine and all. Though there are other species where the female is larger than the male.

That doesn't give an indication that something *should* or *should not* be the case.

because of the "woman must be shorter" bullplop that people insist on clinging to like a crusty barnacle.

I now find your perspective to be frankly insulting to myself and my colleagues. After attempting to strike up a conversation about how this may not be the case, I found my responses ignored while you continue on about your assumptions must be reality.

You'd like this to not be the case. Fine. Feedback noted. Convince me why this thread should not be closed, because right now I'm of the opinion that you are more interested in reaffirming to everyone that we altered the elves specifically to make them physically submissive and to, frankly, be sexist about it.

Now, I am willing to admit that my interpretation of your intentions is fueled by a perspective of mine that is rather defensive at the moment. So how about we talk instead of letting each other's assumptions conclude the worst in each other.

I didn't say you (or anyone) did it consciously. People cling to a lot of grossly racist and sexist things without even realizing it.

*Must* it have been sexist?

And, once again for good measure, I did not say if BW did this consciouslly or not.

Although you clearly feel that this is why the change was made, whether we consciously did it or not.

So lets break this down (and to other people, I'm in no mood to deal with off topic nonsense in this thread at this time).

You say that females were not made any taller. Is this actually true, or did they they still scale and become taller themselves? (I actually don't know the answer to this question, but you have stated that the female elves remained unchanged, so I am curious if this is certain).

What do you want me to say, exactly?

I am saying that you're taking a very specific perspective on what motivated this change, and I'm asking if that may not actually be the case.

Sabariel's objection to sexual dimorphism is questionable.

Though, that someone would like to be taller is fine. Especially between different species (since it seems the issue is that female <race X> is not taller than male <race Y>)

HELL NO! AGH! THAT'S JUST TOO UNBELIVABLE!! I'M MELTING! MELTING! OH, THE WORLD! THE WORLD!!!!! A female PC that's actually taller than some of her male LIs? Repeat above.

Fine. Forget it. Make every female shorter than every male because
reality. And, for good measure, make everyone white too, or maybe group a
few PoC around the white characters like accessories because reality.
IDGAC anymore. I'm done with this site.

If this is the way you with to take the discussion, then this thread closes as it's served its purpose of allowing you to air your grievance.
