I didn't say you (or anyone) did it consciously or not. People cling to a lot of grossly racist and sexist things without even realizing it.

If they were of the same race, and they'd adjusted human females to be taller than human males, wouldn't that be immersion breaking?

Also, can you really not see how loaded your comment is? You're defeating your own arguments.

The only gender-race heigh ratios we have seen are male dwarf to female human, and that should be a win when waged against the criteria / concerns you have in your OP. @_@

Fair enough. And where are you coming up with that for Dragon Age? That's never occured, so to immediately come on the scene and imply that if Bioware DOESN'T do what you're asking they're supporting that "expectation," is disingenuous at best.

I think I'm content to continue "clinging on" to these ideals out of sheer spite. Seeing people like you get riled up is amusing.

Good for you. I guess that means you have no further reason to post in this thread and can move on.

Even though I personally like women who are taller than me, that's just it. A personal preference. And the world doesn't answer to personal preferences and in the world, women in general are shorter than men in general. I'm sure this could be called a boring trope or cliché and whatnot, but I'm honestly not worried.

At worst, I see qunari women being a brow taller than male humans. And if they end up actually being shorter, I'll think it's stupid and play a qunari woman who browbeats anyone foolish enough to comment on her height.

I now find your perspective to be frankly insulting to myself and my colleagues. After attempting to strike up a conversation about how this may not be the case, I found my responses ignored while you continue on about your assumptions must be reality.

You'd like this to not be the case. Fine. Feedback noted. Convince me why this thread should not be closed, because right now I'm of the opinion that you are more interested in reaffirming to everyone that we altered the elves specifically to make them physically submissive and to, frankly, be sexist about it.

Now, I am willing to admit that my interpretation of your intentions is fueled by a perspective of mine that is rather defensive at the moment. So how about we talk instead of letting each other's assumptions conclude the worst in each other.

Wow... really? Just because the females are shorter? I think you're out of line on that comment.

I've already said that the height change of the male elves in DA2 is what concerned me, is what smelled a little bit like "the woman can't be taller than a male partner." I didn't say BW did this consciously or not. As I said before, people cling to a lot of crappy notions without realizing it.

Female anglerfish are dramatically larger than their teeny tiny male counterparts, as explained in this comedic biology video about anglerfish.

Oh zefrank how I love you.

Makes me want an anglerfish race.

What are you on about? "The woman must be shorter" is rooted in sexism. Sometimes people realize this and don't care, and sometimes people don't realize it at all (and it needs to be brought to their attention). And it's not just crappy sexist notions that people cling to. There are other types of crappy notions, like crappy racist notions. So, how is any of that out of line?

Crappy.

Notions.

(Thought I didn't use those words quite enough.)

Male or female dwarf of course.

But I don't think he will be a LI.

There's a difference between "the woman must be shorter" and "women are often shorter than men," I think is what's being said.

To clarify on my last comment, I was referring to the height difference between male dwarves and human females at large, so that if there are any dwarven males to be romanced in DAI at all, then the height difference is in favor of OP's interests.

However, I also need to voice that our conflicting opinions on Varric and his 'interests' are not the current topic of discussion. :P

I would say that only "smells" suspicious if you're looking for reasons to be suspicious--I doubt many people even noticed it--but that's merely a comment.

But I don't think "Women are on average shorter than men" is a crappy notion at all since it is founded in reality.

This. +1

The only thing the male elves height should be compared to as a species that exists in a fictional universe is their female counterparts.

The same should be said of female Qunari.

This is also not to say that I disagree with the overall idea of shorter Elves and taller Qunari. (: Although I'm not too worried about it, either way. Of course we'd all be shocked if the Qunari rivaled the Humans in height.

Indeed. We should consider the fact that this is a video game--without a height slider which likely be hades for the animators, cinematic directors, and people-who-make-armors, you're not going with a wide distribution. You're going with the most accurate description of something within your boundaries, in this case that boundary being one male and one female model.

What make no sense is how every Dwarf , Elf , Human , Qunari have all the same exact same height.

Where are the tall or small human in DA2 ? They're all share the heigh of Hawke ! That make no sense !
Plus they all have the exact same body type !!

When I take a walk in the city .. What I see ? THousand of different people that come in all kind of different shape.

I'm confused.

In DA:O, elves were shorter than humans. Male elves were taller than female elves. Male humans were taller than female humans. Female humans were (as I recall) about the same height as male elves. Male humans were (way) taller than female elves.

In DA2, elves were "upped" so that they were as tall as humans. Male elves were taller than female elves. Male humans were taller than female humans. Because the cross-race heights were indentical, now male elves were taller than human females. Male humans continued to be taller than female elves.

The games always kept the same sexual dimorphism, so I don't understand what you mean about DA2 "changing" something.

Do you mean to say that the ratio between elves and humans was changed so that, specifically, female humans and male elves would no longer be the same height?
