When you chase after Cullen in Act 1's Enemies Among Us, you find him confronting Wilmod - who eventually turns into a demon and summons abominations.
Is it just me or shouldn't he turn into an abomination who summons demons?

I assumed the abominations in question were always following him, but were intangible.
The stronger a demon is, the more like its possessed form will look its old demon self. Wilmod was probably possessed by a sloth demon.
