Everything Star Trek has, Star Wars has. Most of the time it's done better.

Also, I rather like Space magic

Trek is more nerdy science and politics and some psychological stuff, Wars is more heroic fantasy in sci fi clothing. Trek probably explores deeper ideas when Shatner isn't elbowing dudes in really cheap lizard suits.

With the SW expanded universe in mind, then Star Wars.

I do not know about lore, but Star Trek at least has some science(and pseudoscience) mixed in with the space fantasy. Plus, Star Trek has Picard and Spock. Star Wars has Binks and Chewbacca. ILLOGICAL.

As I have heard storied from Vets, back during the Vietnam War, the enemy was sometimes put into confusion and possible panic for the occasional radio call for a wide sweep of Photon torpedoes and Phaser fire for effect. And some American POW's would reenact Trek episodes to keep their mind's sharp and for entertainment.

And I believe Shatner > Stewart based on their Trek pic together. While I still loathe the wooden bridge scene, I believe Kirk was the greater force for good.

Your comparison is illogical.

Star Wars has Obi Wan and Han Solo. Star Trek has Wesley and Chekov. EXTREME CAPS.

Please. Obi Wan can not be put in the same league as Han Solo, forget Picard or Spock. But I will give you Han Solo pre-edit.

As for Wesley and Chekov, at least they are not retarded monsters!

This is what I was thinking and I like star wars more, mostly because of the Jedi and their space buddhism/taoism.  Also, I've enjoyed the star wars books, movies, video games and comic books much much more than the star trek ones.

Star Trek tries to explain and lay a foundation for character motives, for lore and politics. Star Wars is space magic. There never has to be a reason for stuff happening.

Depends on what you consider "deeper". I personally prefer Star Wars, to a degree - some of it is a bit laughable, but hey.

I don't believe in a strict way of defining it for now :) I'm looking for which has more official canon, but really, it's ur judgment that counts here. If there are some novels out there in the star wars or trek uni that you believe in a part of the lore, and enriches it, then go on gurl. If you want to take quality into it, then go for it. :)

I think at one point Star Wars may have had an argument here. Whether that point was Episode One or that awful X-mas special back in the late seventies, but Trek's lore goes deeper and gives a better explanation and appreciation of the aliens in the Trek universe.

Also poke fun at Wesley all you want, but at least Star Trek recognized and admitted the error of its ways by eventually ditching the character and sparing us with repeats. Star Wars has been regularly pumping out superficial "cute" fuzzy creatures intended to be comic relief (and doing a poor job of it) for thirty years now.

Lol which has more books, more Merch, and more toys?

But I will say at times Star Wars goes too far and screws things up *looking at you clone wars, Jar Jar.*

Am also a fan of the Firefly lore; extremely well made for only a single season and film.

Yeah if you want to talk about deeper lore...who cares. The writers for Star Wars were creating JarJar and Eewoks while the writers for Star Trek were creating guys like Picard and Data.

Both had some weaknesses and strengths; reason both have endured. But seeing as Trek was a precursor for scientific advances, had a RL spacecraft named after the Enterprise, and offered me the opportunity to actually hear Gene Rodenberry speak before the first film while raising awareness of actual space travel, the older series has my greater interest.

Perhaps Jar-Jar was inspired by the Gorn?
