Gilgamesh Trevelyan - Male Warrior
"I was away for a few years and I came back to a world in ruins. Death, destruction, chaos, the endless fighting—it was like the Heterodyne Boys had never existed. Things were worse than ever. So I stopped it. And I did it my way this time. No more negotiating. No more promises. No more second chances. And I did it alone. Because I had to.
And it worked."
-Baron Klaus Wulfenbach, Girl Genius
Adriana Lavellan - Female Rogue
"None of you belonged on Bajor. It wasn't your world. For fifty years you
raped our planet, and you killed our people. You lived on our land and
you took the food out of our mouths, and I don't care whether you held a
phaser in your hand or you ironed shirts for a living. You were all
guilty and you were all legitimate targets!"
-Major Kira Nerys, Star Trek Deep Space Nine
and
"When dictatorship is a fact, revolution becomes a right."
-Victor Hugo
Any of you guys have something like this planed?

― Prince Jorg, Prince of Thorns
“When they killed him, Mother wouldn't hold her peace, so they slit her throat. I was stupid then, being only nine, and I fought to save them both. But the thorns held me tight. I've learned to appreciate thorns since. The thorns taught me the game. They let me understand what all those grim and serious men who've fought the Hundred War have yet to learn. You can only win the game when you understand that it IS a game. Let a man play chess, and tell him that every pawn is his friend. Let him think both bishops holy. Let him remember happy days in the shadows of his castles. Let him love his queen. Watch him loose them all.”
Jorg, Prince of Thorns
http://www.goodreads...ince-of-thorns great book series, with an villian protagonist moving towards being an anti-hero as the series goes on.
and my favourite from him: “The way to break the cycle is to kill every single one of the
that
mother, kill their brothers, kill their children, kill their dog.”

How should a despot set men free? "

which are often cut short before we learn what they're for.
Though I believe in meeting you, she found a little happiness.
Something that reminded her, what it felt like to be human.
I believe she died fighting to protect the only person who loved her and the only one she loved in return.
You gave her a better death than she imagined. "
Ilena from the Claymore series.
Even though not a descriptive quote of personality, it's my favourite in terms of seeing what makes someone become a hero. Not working to save all, not Star Wars award ceremony..
No the kind of heroine I'd like to be is a simple tragic one like Theresa, whom is more remembered for the impact she had on people, than the amount of power she possessed.
And of course that unforgivable death, that sends revenge into the blood, drives people forth and consumes all.

An in-game quote to reflect the Inquisitor we envision playing as, then?
I think this would reflect the Dalish Inquisitor I wanted to play as, and his ultimate goal:
"Only sixty-five of our group made it to Halamshiral. Some gave up. Some sickened, especially the little ones. Bandits stalked us. My mother forgive me, I had to steal food. A child fought me for extra scraps of bread. A few days later, I carried her for miles after her legs gave out. She died shivering in my arms.
I used to have a master, a mage. He fed me well, never beat me, even taught me how to read so I could do his accounts. But if he had a theory or a spell he wanted to test out, he'd get out his daggers, have the other servants tie me to a post, and carve furrows into my skin. I was so afraid. Every time, I was sure I would die. But at worst I'd collapse, get bandaged up, and lie in bed too weak to move for days. The other slaves visited me in secret to survey the damage. I'd heal just enough before he needed blood again.
That is why I traveled from Val Dorma to the Dales with nothing but rags on my back. That is why there were one hundred and five of us when we set out, all elven. That is why I fell to my knees and wept when we crossed through the gates of my new home, a village for my people."
- Anonymous account of the Long Walk, as told to Brother Pekor of Ferelden, circa -140 Ancient

— Marquis de Sad
"Everybody says that something’s different, that I’ve changed. They say you used to be full of love and care, but since one day, you’ve become cold. They don’t get it. You used to smile a lot but your eyes, face, the way you speak, it all became dark and scary. A kind heart is useless, it’s a flaw in this world, so I guess I want to become worse and worse."

I'd rather go with: "He is an Inquisitor. They suspect everyone of heresy."

- What?
- Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that... I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
After DAII, I'm planning to do what I couldn't do with Hawke... Burn each and everyone of the factions for oppressing, answering with more violence and standing in the middle doing nothing while the others started a war.

And I have a quote for my third (or forth?) Inquisitor. Weird, really, I've read the Way of Kings but couldn't remember that one.
