And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star
(Maybe not my first character though)

"Man is only a reed, the weakest in nature; but he is a thinking reed. There is no need for the whole universe to take up arms to crush him: a vapor, a drop of water is enough to kill him. But even if the universe were to crush him, man would still be nobler than his slayer, because he knows that he is dying and the advantage the universe has over him. The universe knows nothing of this." Blaise Pascal
"Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic is alcohol, morphine, or idealism." Carl Jung
"Wit is well-bred insolence." Aristotle
"This ever ongoing oppression is without reason or cause! The idiotic populace all raise their voices together...not one realizes the absolute natural law engraved in to the aether. Caught up with their personal desires, none fulfill the direction given them. They call their idol "future," they call their lust for future "hope." Fearing self-sacrifice, they contradictorily, chaotically, blame themselves. So have humans who obtained reason truly gained prosperity, I wonder...in ever repeated history they have ever been given "recognition." But in assembly, humans are ever more stupid, prideful, and subject to whim. Even so, humanity never looks back on their mistakes, ever hastening on the road to convergence. In the end, could you say their "future" is filled with hope?" -ENS

While I have some doubts I'll be able to play this way, the condition of Thedas and its powers make this one very appealing:
"The armies of the world will come for me. And within my fortress, they will face all of the terrible creatures I have wrought, the boundless power I have mastered! And one by one, they will fall at my feet. Anyone who would rise against my new Horde will be impaled upon the spires of Orgrimmar!"
-Garrosh Hellscream, Siege of Orgrimmar trailer

Warrior: Fury is a beast caged in every human heart. I do not lose myself to fury; I open the cage, cut the chain, and set the monster loose.
Rogue: Hero! He was no hero! What did a hero get? Someone patting you on the head before they send you out like a hound to do it again. A noblewoman condescending to favor you with a kiss, or laying a flower on your grave. - Matrim Cauthon, The Wheel of Time.

The tragedy of Earth is not that so many died. Death is an inevitable part of life. The tragedy is that so many died as victims. When the crisis came, they were helpless, unable to use their deaths to buy anything of value. Millions of otherwise intelligent people had been tricked into ignoring a fundamental truth: that no man has any rights if he is unable to personally defend them.

Lazlo Lavellan, Male Elven Mage
"I have no wish to change the world. But nor can I stand by while men suffer and die on the whim of some select few."
"Were it justice you desired, I would gladly help you see it done. But what you truly want is power. Power beyond that of any army."
"I see no good in using people! Only deception, and death! I will not stand by any longer as innocents fall prey to your good!"
-Ramza Beoulve. These quotes come from various parts of Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, but I like how they stack up.

Male Elf Mage:
"Direct action is not always the best way. It is a far greater victory to make another see through your eyes than to close theirs forever."
"To be united by hatred is a fragile alliance at best."
Female Qunari Rogue:
"But there must always be a Darth Traya, one that holds the knowledge of betrayal. Who has been betrayed in her heart, and will betray in return."
Male Bloodmage Qunari:
"Perhaps her tone would change once you held her by the throat, and showed her how far a Jedi could fall."
- Kreia (my favorite videogame character)

The quote for my CE Warden comes straight from the game itself. I thought it was one of the more powerful lines, and summed up my character beautifully.
"I may be elven, but more than that--I'm a person."
