When I set a variable on oPC, are they removed when the charicter is saved, or should they be deleted.

The variable table on PC's is not saved when the PC is saved. So you do not have to delete them.

Lightfoot is 100% correct. It's worth adding, however, that variables set on a pc's ITEMS are saved when the character is saved. It's a good idea to avoid setting variables on items unless you want them to be permanent. Removing them works too, but is just more effort for (usually) no gain.
