She's the only character who didn't come crying to me about her angsty past. When I talked to Tali, it was "Hey, guess how cool Quarians are? We're pretty cool! Oh, look, spaceships!" With everyone else, it's all "Shepard...let me tell you about this terrible thing that happened to me. Oh, god, it was so sad. Please help me."

Tali keeps it together and keeps it professional, which is apparently too much to ask of the rest of Shepard's crew.

Tali rubbed me the wrong way, she annoyed me, she was like the Jar Jar Binks of ME1.

Wrex Now there was a character, why aint HE a action figure, huh?!

I'm not a fan of tali, I never used her in combat except on the Geth Incursion missions. I just dont fancy her at all. Whatsoever.

Small side-query; was anyone else under the impression(from ME1) that the suit were a means of survival -off the flotilla-, but not in use on the flotilla ships? I mean, if the 'excessively clean environs of the ships made the suits neccesarry when leaving, should they not be -un-neccesarry when going back aboard? Personally i expected much more difficulty and arrangements in place for a visit from 'outsiders'. Possibly they 'sterilized' my suit, I don't know.

Cop-out, I say; they didn't want to 'reveal' the quarian look yet, so they made the suit a lifelong commitment rather than a safety-measure off-ship.

Tali seems to be the genuinely nicest person of all the crew, except for one thing, which I think everyone seems to be forgetting, which is that she seriously would prefer to wipe out the geth. This is a big character flaw that has always annoyed me with Tali. She may be generally a good "person" and have useful technical skills, as well as being buxom and nubile, but the fact that she can't see over her own prejudices ruins a lot of that.

Again, all the people this side of the veil has seen for ages is 'Saren's Geth. Which I doubt anyone can be called into question for wanting off their lawn.

She's my favorite just because she's quarian. I think the writers did an amazing job with the quarian/geth struggle, and that story is every bit as interesting as the main plot. My favorite part of ME2 is Tali's loyalty mission. Sure, Tali's nice, but I'd be just as happy not having her on the team as long as we got to explore more quarian/geth politics.

personally i liked her mostly for her ability to mow through geth faster than any other squad member but aside from that as i actually listened to the dialogue i found that in fact it seems like they spent more time actually creating a character. as for the other races turrian and salarian you hear verry little about theur culture and i have yet to see a female of either species. and frankly it looks to me like the modlers were just to lazy to make multiple bases for gender and instead focused on minor texture alterations.

as for the quarians tali spends alot of time talking about her people and some history so of allthe characters she is by far the least shallow.

I know what you mean.. and i agree, they didnt want to reveal the quarian look yet... which killed me!

but i hope that the writers dont keep them covered forever

I find no reason to like her

- Annoying accent

- Whines at everything

- Sucks in combat

I like the turian councilor better.

She is very like-able, a little shy, and can hold her own. She appreciates Shepard very much and she has a pretty nice bod. She's like this little shy girl that follows you around that you want to take care of. Plus she has a nice accent.

I didn't get her popularity either, but she's growing on me. Still not my favorite character though.

To be honest, I didn't like her in ME1 at all. She was whiny b**ch back then.

But in ME2 she gets an interesting character and a good piece of story.

She now appeals to the guardian in me. That made my shepart even romance her.

What I don't understand is all that fanboy stuff going on here.

I liked her as a chara in both ME1 and ME2. I think her voice actor is extremely talented.

However I like a lot of other characters too ;)

And I was wondering....what makes her so damn popular...

Because the alternatives (miranda, jack, samara, ashley, liara (now)) have strong independent personalities of their own which makes the timid children of the internet uncomfortable.  They want to have someone to defend, someone that must be helped, someone that their ego can feel somewhat superior to, and that is what they get with Tali.

She is the princess in the castle, the timid damsel in distress, and so she is the most popular because a relationship with her makes us feel better about ourselves.

I don't get the deal with Tali. I think she's one of the most annoying characters in the series. I've never used her in my squad and never will.

The Damsel in distress part is interesting! I like it!

However I find Tali to be very independent. She isnt afraid to stand up for herself and talk trash about Shep, if you do some actions that she disagrees on (See the end of the first mission you meet her in, for example)

Mirranda and Jack seemed more dependant on your opinion.
Like Mirranda will just shut up and be all ****y on you, and Jack.. Well, Jack talks **** to you, no matter how nice/evil you are. But as soon as you peel of the outer layer of skin, they're both just cry babies.

Tali gets sad during her loyalty mission, for obvious reasons, but even after that she isnt afraid to tell you how much she dislikes you. (Pick renegade at the trial)

Personally I liked Tali because of her independance. She wasn't a stepping stone I had to worry would smoulder under my feet. (Always had a back-stabbing feel about Miranda)

I don't know, reminds me of Aerie? A bit? All right, perhaps the personality is totally off when comparing them but still...

I've always been a big fan of Tali. I think half is about the voicing. She simply is a pleasure to listen.
The other half is that she's the most interesting female character in ME1. Both Liara and Ash aren't very interesting and tends to just JUMP on the PC out of the blue, making them feel "fake".
It's not really that Tali is the "forbidden fruit" (I never bought that, as I tend to, on the contrary, be LESS interested in the non-romanceable character :P), it's just that she feels more "real" because she doesn't act like a "video game character" and more like a, well, a real person could act.

So in the end : Tali is popular because she feels more like a real person than the other characters. And her voice.
I also think that the whole "victims" side of the Quarian helps to give her a vulnerable side that is endearing. I know I nearly always root for the Quarians when I encounter them in the game.

Its her hips.

Alien yet beautifull body.

Also Quarians are rare. Specially in ME1 it was a novelty having a quarian tech expert on your team.
