I was trying to help a friend out, and let him bring his HD to my house, so he could use my internet connection to set up an XBL account, and d/l the downloadable content for dragon age.  When he got home, it started giving him errors stating that the DLC was corrupted, and to try re-downloading. When his system is hooked up to XBL, he has no problem.  After an hour and a half long live chat with an EA tech support worker, nothing had changed.  I've since deleted and re-d/led the DLC, cleared his cache, formatted the hard drive... i've done everything possible from my end that i can think of to correct this.  i'm out of ideas.  Any suggestions?   again, the dlc works perfectly, so long as he's connected to the internet, which simply isn't an option for him.

When you say that you've deleted and re-downloaded...have you checked every downloadable item to make sure you've downloaded it directly at least once? Many of the promotional items are bundled together in large chunks, necessitating multiple downloads of the same data to acquire all the necessary licenses for offline play.

checked 'em all. they were fully d/led. I saw something mentioned in another thread, that if the XBL and EA email addresses don't match up the same, that can cause problems. Is this one of those problems?

Followed that link.  It's not a licencing issue.  i've deleted, and re-downloaded everything at least 4 times now.  I've got the rights for the content, but unless it's connected to the net, i can't play it.... or rather, he can't.

He downloaded the stuff on your console, but his hard drive? Then yes, he can't use the DLC unless he's connected to Live, because his content is licensed to HIS gamertag and YOUR Xbox. He will have to either log in to his gamertag to use it, or do a license transfer.

Edit: In the future, if he wants to license stuff, have him bring his entire Xbox to your house, and there will be no problem. :D

Trickfred... you're awesome! fixing this issue now. Just a quick question: does EA/Bioware hire competent people to work in their tech support department, or do they just tell them to ask if the machine is plugged in and leave it at that...

just a snippet of my experience with their employees.

Not their fault exactly, they read from scripts on the computer screen in front of them. If your problem is not in the database... they either escalate, or tell you to post on the boards because it's a 'gameplay issue'. *shrug*

Be careful with the liscencing tool, their is a time limit on using it and you dont want to end up screwing both you and your friends content for various games.
