Since it's inevitable that there'll be a Templar character who we'll have to fight, what do you want out of him? At the moment, I just want him to look cool.

I would hope that the Templar antagonist would be Cullen. Would love to fight and kill that unstable templar bastard.

Huh, it is going to be a he isn't it. My writer senses are saying for some reason a female templar antagonist wouldn't play this round.

Are you talking about the big bad "Agent of Chaos"? If so, I don't think it's a templar.

Or just some ancillary bad guy? If so, I want an elven or dwarven templar-mercenary.

Knight-Commander Meredith didn't give Cullen his Captain status just because hes cute and handsome, and that she wanted to jump his bones. They have a similar hate trait against mages. I can see Cullen going crazy after Kirkwall, and then started worshipping and talking to the Red Lyirum Meredith statue. Perhaps he started chipping away pieces and started eating or sniffing it thus creating the Red templars.

I can't see him doing a complete 180 in his personality from standing up to her at the end of dragon age 2, to worshiping her like some crazed stalker.

That would just be bad writting.

Hopefully it's every templar, and we get to have a bonfire.

Surely this is what would happen if we fought a Red Templar Cullen.

"RED LYRIUM, SON!"

I played that way in the past two games. I doubt I can avoid being reasonable, but I'd like to dip into some "All who challenge me will burn in the fires of my hatred" territory come Inquisition. DA2 has me pumped for a fest of righteous asskickery.

@Xilizhra: You saw the point of the Templars in the past two games? Why do I find that really REALLY hard to believe.

You've never seemed to ever express that mages should ever be policed in a world where they're the equivalent of lunatics who hear voices in their heads - voices that can occasionaly "take over".

Of course they should be policed. Everyone should. But they shouldn't be imprisoned for doing nothing.

To the player? Or one of our companions?

It would be hard to execute for the player, since there are four different races.

It's a great idea, I guess.

Apparently the main bad guy is (from rumors) the head of the Red Templars, who wants to step into the black city and become a god. So I want him to kill every mage.

All of them,

especially the children.

Because he is the solution

Don't blame Hawke blame Bioware for being so afraid of the Cullen fan girls out there.

Cullen is indeed a moron and to this day I don't understand why he has such a big following.

I can and no... It's not bad writing.  It makes perfect sense. Cullen
among his templar friends could go for so long without Lyrium until the
withdrawls starts taking a toll on their mental status. The Chantry of
Kirkwall is no more, since our hero Anders finally took the first step
to pledge to the Chantry that mages will not bow down to them anymore. No Chantry mean no Lyrium, and when you have templars whos addicted to the stuffs are not going to be thinking in a logical point of view.

Drug addicts who's desperate for their next fix will go as far as to commit murder.

That sounds... odd Did the lyrium really make him so mad that he forgot what entering the Black City does to people? And even if you killed every mage in Thedas, more mages would be born. Unless he plans to destroy magic period.

Weird rumor.

To the player, I guess.

Human = Heretic

Elf = Heathen

Dwarf = Heathen

Qunari = Double Heathen

Mage = the Antithesis

Never trust rumors.

I could start a rumor that the Grey Wardens caused the Veil Tear trying to prevent further Blights.

And the order collapsed in the ensuing fallout of placing blame.

If there's a Templar antagonist I hope there's an option to join him/her or have him/her join you.

It happened with Loghain in the Landsmeet, and you got to get rid of that buffoon Alistar.

Making all the templars evil is the epitome of bad writting.

About the only thing worse in terms of writing, in my opinion, would be what bioware did with the batarians from mass effect. Built them up over 2 games, and destroyed the whole damn race's home system off screen. Basically reducing them from even "mild annoyance" status all the way down to "unimportant background filler you can't interact with".

Only in this case, it'd be the tevinter imperium. So before the game even starts, the chantry gets word that all of tevinter has been destroyed and everyone in the country is dead.

Sorry I should've made myself clearer.

For the Templar antagonist,  My own idea is that of him looking like a Darth Vader, with the mentality of a Amon.

Something like that. Off the top of my head.
