Oh, I thought you were talking about family ties.

Sorry I should've made myself clearer.

For the Templar antagonist,  I feel like wanting him to look like a Darth Vader, with the mentality of a Amon.

Something like that off the top of my head.

Like a templar traitor?

A Darth Vader. Or a Amon.

To the player? Or one of our companions?

It would be hard to execute for the player, since there are four different races.

It's a great idea, I guess.

To the player, I guess.

Human = Heretic

Elf = Heathen

Dwarf = Heathen

Qunari = Double Heathen

Mage = the Antithesis

Something like that. Off the top of my head.

Making all the templars evil is the epitome of bad writting.

About the only thing worse in terms of writing, in my opinion, would be what bioware did with the batarians from mass effect. Built them up over 2 games, and destroyed the whole damn race's home system off screen. Basically reducing them from even "mild annoyance" status all the way down to "unimportant background filler you can't interact with".

Only in this case, it'd be the tevinter imperium. So before the game even starts, the chantry gets word that all of tevinter has been destroyed and everyone in the country is dead.

Well thedas is world of evil peoples too late after da 2 this conflict is black vs black morality when two sides of psychos fight each other.:devil:

Uh, no? Why would he be a traitor? Who is he a traitor to?

THIS ONE.

What I meant to say with Darth Vader was the armor.

An Amon-esque Templar could work, now that I think about it. He could have studied blood magic thoroughly, and through intense training and study, developed an immunity towards it. Just imagine if his Templar skills were developed enough to Tranquil a mage on the spot.

Darth Vader was a traitor to the Jedi. Amon was a traitor to benders.

So a templar traitor would be a traitor to templars.

I want the Templar protagonist to be:

- Lily, with Jowan's name carved into her forehead. Back from Aeonar.
- Bevin from Lothering after having watched the horrors of what a possessed mage can do.
- A new character who turns out to be Grand Cleric Elthina's son/relative (not Sebastian though).
- Athras, the elf who lost his lover to the werewolf curse created by the blood mage Zathrian.
- Someone who lost a sister/mother/wife whatever to Quentin

Yes, he'll be on a mission. A mission to make everyone equal, one mage at a time.

Finally, someone else who wants an elven templar. I would totally be down for this.

The other suggestions are fine too.

He could wear a Lyrium ring which doubles as a brand. They mention a Lyrium brand is involved during the Rite of Tranquility. All he would have to do is press his fist on the mage's forehead and concentrate, and bam, Tranquility.

That would be horrifying.

Oh. That's what Vit246 meant by Amon-like. A self-hating mage who became a templar?

I'm confused, then.

What did you mean by "look like a Darth Vader, with the mentality of a Amon"?

I don't think so. By definition, a mage cannot be a Templar. There are spells that cancel the use of other magic, but that doesn't make a mage a Templar. I think Vit is just referring to a Templar who's going to bring equality and justice to the world... by removing choice.

I don't know, the Templar Order isn't known for welcoming other races into their ranks, but it would present an interesting twist.

I would welcome an Elf, Oxman, or even a Dwarf (if that's possible) Templar.

Sounds like the perfect theme song for when I, as a mage, finally get inside the Grand Cathedral where I'm sorrounded by a flock of templars protecting Divine Justinia V from harms way.

When you think about it, dwarves would probably make the best Templars, given their natural magic resistance. If one was willing to join you'd think they'd let him/her in in a hurry.

Perhaps some of Brother Burkel's converts went off to become Templars.

The Templar Order is no more. And I can't imagine there being that many loyalist templars.

The Chantry needs muscle. Why not hire some mercenaries, even if they are non-believing elves and dwarves?

Cullen is a wuss.
Could never be a major enemy.
You assume it'll be the leader of the red templars and they'll have some silly weapon like Meredith had.

The version from the movie is better.
