Okay, everyone. I tested the damage against enemies.

I did 14 and 15 damage to a Genlock and a Hurlock. I saved up 2 levels, and put all 7 points into my DEX. I went from 27 dex to 34 dex. I was using the same gear, made sure not to get any passive talents, and I did 14 and 15 damage again. I would think 7 pts into DEX would make at least a 1 point difference, but it didn't. Guess I'm gonna stick to the cunning build. Thanks DK!

Maybe I was wrong. I walked around some more and started doing 16 or 17 damage occasionally. Would that be about the amount of damage it would change? OR would it be a bigger difference from 7 points?

[EDIT] I'm testing it again. I'll kill 4 of each, and watch damages, then reload, level up, and do it again. Sorry for the confusion.

[EDIT #2}Yeah so the dex thing is broken. I reloaded my save and killed a bunch of hurlocks. The lowest damage I ever did was 13 and the highest was 17, the same thing as my game AFTER I put 7 points into DEX. Looks like I'm making a CUN rogue. Thanks to all who helped. This kinda sucks though, since your damage doesn't increase from dex at all, that means instead of taking damage from DEX/STR or DEX/CUN it's only taking it from CUN. Ugh, lame.

Yeah but with the Song of Courage build, I'd have to wait forever just to get it, right?

Equipment-wise, yes, it would take some time to get the better stuff. Skill-wise, you'd have everything you need at Level 12 if you build the character right.

I'm sorry. What?! You have at most like 16 skill points at level 12?

4 ranks of stealth
1 rank lockpicking
3 ranks to get lethality
4 ranks AoS
4 ranks Scattershot

+ specializations (3 points for bard, 1 for duelist)
and your going to want Master Archer ASAP too.

So should I go ranger first? At least then, I'd have an extra pair of teeth. Or should I go for duelist, or bard?

Bumpy. Anyone know if I should bother with Bard or should I just get Duelist?

Just go Duelist Ranger. Spec duelist first to increase your attack.

To re-ask a previous question...what is this about a Ranger XP bug?

Ranger pets do not award XP when they score a killing blow on a target much like non-party NPCs (unless this has been fixed very recently and I just missed it). It's not a big deal but it's there and it's annoying.

Hmm thats really interesting. I have the PC version, and I was under the impression that dex DID work for damage in consoles. I thought it was only daggers which didnt increase damage from dex, and that the issue with consoles was that there was no fix to make shortbows be 100% dex based. I guess I was wrong.

In that case, go with a cunning based archer. Personally, I would get up to about 40 dexterity anyways, though, as you want to be able to actually hit opponents, and dexterity still increases attack. It also will make your defense respectable, giving you some survivability, which you will need with low health and not enough strength for high armor. If you are a complete baller who can utilize your tank perfectly and avoid getting the archer hit, then maybe you don't need defense too much, but I like it for this type of character.

As for specialization, you should go for Duelist for the Dueling talent. For a cunning based character on the xbox, I would choose Bard over Ranger. Song of Courage gets pretty great with high cunning, and the ranger pets are worse on xbox since you cant directly control them. As such, I advise a Duelist/Bard Rogue archer with about 40 dexterity, 20 strength, and everything else into cunning.
