In reading the description of Overlord I didn't really feel that it would have much appeal to me. I love LotSB, but found Arrival to be Meh at best, more of a chore to be accomplished just so the dialogue works better in ME3. In fact, I skip Arrival about 50% of the time now. But now I am thinking Overlord might fit in with the Sheppard story I am doing. This Sheppard didn't do any of the Cerberus stuff in ME1 so he isn't really familiar with the organization and doesn't really have any pre-existing biases against it. I thought Overlord might be a way for him to get to know more about the organization and form an opinion. Also, with this Sheppard I am planning on selling Legion to Cerberus. The idea here is that Sheppard fought Geth in ME1 and therefore doesn't like Geth. I thought the Overlord DLC might reinforce that bias against Geth. (It would also help fill out some dialogue in ME3.)
So where does Overlord rate as far as story and gameplay?

I think Overlord is an excellent dlc, It has a little bit of everything, Some very nice combat segments, puzzles and the hammerhead for a change of pace and tons of atmosphere. Yet it's entirely optional. Basically all ME2 strengths. Lair is better I'd rate Overlord about the same as Kasumi.with Arrival being the way weakest due to the immersionbreaking story ,the lack of squadmates and the keenly felt railroading.

Thank you for your input. At only $7 I figured I might as well give it a go. Just downloaded it. Need to level a little bit and then I will see how it goes.

Well, crap. Overlord just shot my plans to sell Legion to Cerberus to hell. After seeing what royal screw-ups Cerberus are there is no way this Sheppard is going to let them have another bite at the apple.
On a more positive note, this has to be one of the most substantial DLCs for the price in the series. Not as much story as LotSB, but easily as long a mission. Four missions in fact, any one of which is comparable in size to the little side quests you find by scanning planets. Much more substantial than the Kasumi DLC. Mostly it was positive, but I really hate BW when they give you a task but don't tell you how to do it. Mission failure, Mission failure, Mission failure. Wait, what am I supposed to do? I don't get it. Oh, I see, finally. BW, you might want to consider lowering the frustration level on your various quests. At least give the player some clue as to what is going on. Stop the upload? How? Shoot the sphere? No. Mission failure. What? Oh, finally, there's these little glowy things I need to shoot. Um, you don't think you could have made them a little more obvious? Grrr.

Overlord i do see why Cerbeus would do such a thing. Controlling the Geth due to the events of ME1.
I didn't sell Legion for a different reason. Talking to a Live Geth will get good intelligence. OF course we can shoot Legion up and space his ass.

Overlord has to be one of the most atmospheric segments of a game EVER for me. The jump scares really got me the first time, and I was terrified. But I agree, the dictation of what to shoot where in the final battle would've been nice.
