That and hearing how Cerberus brainwashed jack to become a phantom was disturbing when you did Chronos station...
Does Jack get her own video console in Cronos in that case or is it just a datapad? I only got the gumption to betray Wrex a couple of weeks ago (and I've never much liked him), but I like Jack. I'll have to do a Grissomless playthrough sometime, it's a shame because I enjoy that mission, especially the big fight in the atrium.

Um, please clarify. I just did Overlord for the first time and I sent David Archer to Grissom.
1) What will happen if I do Grissom?
2) What will happen if I do not do Grissom?
3) What would happen if I sent David to Cerberus?

It usually makes no sense to SKIP a side-quest mission since there is no change in the narrative in the following missions...
However, I do admit that in ME3, skipping both the Turian bomb and the Grissom Academy (especially the latter) you might want to do. The latter especially if you had given David Archer to grissom and do the ex-cerberus scientists....
Ooooh, what happens to David if you skip Grissom? I do like how Dr. Archer commits suicide if you left David with Overlord and do the Scientist mission after you destroy the Geth, it was a nice touch.
Dr. Archer also kills himself if you did save David both times but let the good doctor stew about the second time. I picked that dialogue option once as a "what if" but then reloaded so I could tell him David was safe.
On topic....no, I don't skip missions, at least not on purpose. Add me to the OCD list....even the stupid minerals in ME1 I have to do them all every time!

I rarely skip any in ME3, but I do skip quite a few in ME2 - it is kinda pointless to do all of them as you hit the level cap pretty early anyway. If I want to grind, I rather go to the Armax Arena.
I didn't think you got any XP from the arena. I don't think I have seen it, though sometimes I may already be at level 60 by then anyway.
Oh, and yeah, those sidequest in ME2 don't really contribute to the story in ME3 so I skip them.

You don't get XP in the Arena, but the fights are more fun than many of the side quests in ME2 (and if you are at level cap, you won't get any XP from those either).cap and gown wrote...

I lke the sidequests in ME2. They're all neat little handscrafted levels. They don't take long anyways. I also just like seeing them from a RP perspective. It's cool stopping some Batarian terrorists with Jack and Zaeed. Just the idea of it is cool.
Yes, they are very nicely done. 1000x better than the cookie cutter crap you get in ME1. Still, having done them all once I don't feel compelled to do them again unless I need the XP or to advance ship-board dialogue.

I really like that side mission, not to mention that it has a pretty nice choice to make at the end (I always choose to save the residential area). Zaeed and Garrus are my go-to's for missions like this.

Well, don't skip all of them. You still get some upgrades from some of the quests (the Geth one where there's a lot of fog has a dmg reduction upgrade, I think? And there are upgrades from the Blue Suns and Blood Pack quests).

The Geth one I do before going to the Collector ship so that I can research hard shields. But the Blue Suns and Blook Pack upgrades are pretty meh. I hardly ever use heavy weapons and 10% more health is not something that gets me worked up.

If I was to play ME3 again, I would likely skip the geth consensus mission.
That was the one mission I skipped by accident and I regeted it after Tali killed herself and the fleet was destroyed

The problem I have with a few of them is the razor-thin motivation for Shepard to be involved. There have been mercs serving on the Normandy (Wrex and Zaeed), so it seems odd that EDI simply reporting "merc activity" (as opposed to a clear indication of mercs involved in something illegal or dangerous) means that Shepard needs to get involved. Why does the discovery of a long-lost shipwreck require Shepard to risk his/her life tiptoeing around it to recover some minerals and mess with a console - don't the Alliance and the Council have specialists for that sort of thing?
The level design is better than those repetitive bases in ME1, but at least with those, you have Hackett or somebody asking Shepard to go there and explaining why it's important. We can quibble over whether that really fits the "race against time," but ME2 is implicitly guilty of the same thing - logically, you'd think that doing more sidequests or loyalty missions might lead to more colonies being attacked, but it just...doesn't. The colony attacks seem to proceed based on how often Shepard walks past crew members who talk about them.

Ha! Never thought of it that way. So I guess I can save more colonist by avoiding my crew.

It was a bold step for BioWare, Jack had a quite the fan base and they made her into a killable enemy in gameplay during the assault on Illusive Brah's pad.
As for skippable missions, Firewalker, the toaster station, and the toaster server.
