Right so I DID play the first Mass Effect and completed it, but since then have transferred my data to a new hard drive. I have heard that this doesn't properly transfer the save and so I won't be able to carry on from that character. Now many people could just play their game again and re-complete, but I lost my copy Image IPB So could someone please clear this up for me?

When I play Mass Effect 2 without a save to load from do I get a choice to make these decisions again (I've heard through dialogue with Miranda?) Or is there a default choice? Does anyone know?

P.S. Sorry to anyone who feels like posting "Not this thread again.." but if you do feel like doing that, please don't bother. And sorry if you've seen it before Image IPB

EDIT: My brain hurts. Lemme try again.

From what I've read there's a questionnaire at the start of the game that determines what the lore of your playthrough will be. I might be wrong though, but pretty sure I'm right.

I assume you mean the xbox version. If you properly transferred all data to the new HDD, there shouldn't be any problems. Alas, we have no way to know for certain until the game launches. If you want to be sure, just borrow the disc from any friend of yours who has the game, load an old save and finish the game.

I transferred by copying my save to an MU then to my new HDD, and none of my friends have the game :(

I have imported my Mass Effect saves onto a new 120gb hard drive on Xbox and I can play them no problem, so I don't see why Mass Effect 2 wouldn't be able to play them just the same. We should be fine.

It should work but if you are scared fire it up beat the game again from the last save or check to see if you can start a new game plus with the last save you completed the game with. If it shows up there it should show up in ME2.

From what I've read, this is how I understand it:

If your save was on a 360 HD and was tranfered to another then it won't be usable due to a 'hidden' save that stores all the decisions you made. HOWEVER, I see no reason that you couldn't simply reload the latest save, re-do the final battle and have that create the 'secret save' for you.

If it was a PC save, then you should be fine from what I know.

You said you lost your copy though, which implies this is a 360 save or else that wouldn't be such an issue.

I believe you may be SOL, friend. As for the conversation at the beginning of the game, as I understand it, this is able to alter certain choices but not all of them. For example you may be able to provide which scenario you chose for the 'Wrex Incident', but I'd be surprised if Miranda out and out asked you what happened to the council.

No way to know for sure, unfortunately, but yeah, I'd suspect that only certain decisions are able to be made through the Miranda dialogue.
