alright i know i posted this before but this time its finally for reals i did other playthroughs to slim down my picks an archer playthrough it was . . ok i guess , i did a mage warrior (forgot the name) it was fun but not my style.

now its time for my final 100% playthrough now this one is hard because im picking between two of my most favorite classes in this game the Shield Warrior and the Assassin Rogue.

Shield Warrior: In my second playthrough of this game it was so much fun being the party's tank me and Alistair just tanking every enemie even on Nightmare it was just me and Alistair taking on the boss we were a force to be reckoned with. sadly through i had no idea about the class build so i picked one Spec i didn't really enjoy or used much . . Reaver it wasn't that useful at all to be honest i wished i picked Templar then Reaver you know.

Assassin Rogue:  There was once a little Elf that was gonna get married . . but then the fire nation attacked ! , All jokes aside the City Elf Rogue was my first playthrough i beat the game on so its kinda dear to my heart it took a while to level him up but once near the end of the game he was a shadow wiping out a whole room full of enemies within seconds i don't think i build him wrong he was doing pretty well from what i remember sadly though this Elf never got a love interest :crying: (failed on all the love picks)

i know this is all but a personal pick but can any of you guys help me try to pick between them so i can finally move onto Dragon Age 2 lol

It's personal preference, obvs. If you enjoyed playing a shield warrior, then good for you! Personally though, I find the combat for a shield warrior a little dull. Built optimally their highest stat should be dex, making them very difficult to hit. But it also means they don't hit very hard either. As a DPS rogue, you'll be slicing through the enemies like a chainsaw.

I guess part of it comes down to who you want your companions to be. Will you switch them up all the time or will you have a core group? Because if you want Alistair or another tank-built companion along with you a lot then I'd definitely go rogue. There's no need for more than one tank in a party (though conversely, two DPS rogues would be fine). Also bare in mind that you'll always want a rogue in your group for those chests, so if you're not happy with always having Leliana or Zevran in your party, then it'd be a good idea to be a rogue yourself.

So on balance, I say go rogue.

Just my tuppenceworth. Which is of course worth diddly squat if you simply prefer shield warrior...

Arcane warrior will be the most survivable awesome tank you ever saw,
and is a different class from what you played so far, being a mage,
and use mana clash instead of templar

I was an Arcane Warrior , i understand why you got confused cause i said Mage Warrior i just forgot the name of it at the time so im sorry but although im happy you took the time to type that i am not being an Arcane Warrior again it was fun but it wasn't that fun for me it just wasn't my playstyle.

Ok, well i'm not overly into shields, they do little in DA, if i were to do a non-mage,
it would be dual wield warrior on momentum,
and i would save points for spirit warrior in awakening

. . sigh ok now i really do like your taking your time on doing this but im not doing another playthrough as a different class , im only picking between the Shield Warrior or the Assassin Rogue good Sir.

im not becoming a mage , im not becoming a dual wield warrior , im not becoming anything besides what i have listed in the title are we clear?. Im not trying to come off as a jerk but please just pick between what i have listed i will not play as any other classes besides those two.

Like you my original play through was an assassin I went dual wield daggers, Human noble & max out cunning... doesn't matter what game I play my 'cannon' is always a human rogue.

For me its no contest, rogue all the way.. besides trial of the crows & Slim Couldrys quests in Denerim only make sense as a rogue.

Id suggest the Offensive Shield Warrior I created years ago. Probably the most fun, epic and iconic playstyle ive experinced. (Almost all Str focused)

Assassin Rogue is kinda fun as well but get to a point where your just micromanaging your one hit kills from behind and loses a bit of immersion as it gets repetitive to stealth and then postion behind every guy.

I found the appeal is abit different when playing a tank. Instead of getting the satisfaction of huge numbers on the screen or seeing your foes fall very fast, you'll get a kick from seeing just how unstoppable you are; how much damage you can take, managing your skills so you're holding threat and at the same time not dying. Seeing those Genlock Rogues in the Korcari Wilds hit my char for 1 damage was quite amusing!

Still, it's a very slow style...coming from a DW backstabbing Rogue idk if I can be arsed with the pacing. Currently contemplating wether to go S/S or 2hand War myself. Posted Image

In these cases (pretty common in RPGs, hehe) from my own experience; You may gather all the data you want, compare classes, skills, ask people's opinions etc but it's ultimately only YOU who can decide. Somewhere down the line you just have to man up and pick one; it's a game, it will be fun regardless what you choose. Have faith in yourself. Er, anyway, good luck with your choice! :)

If you want to see big numbers Warrior Archer, Backstab Cun Rogue, Elemental Debuff Mage.

If you want to see high consistant damage Duel Wield Dex/Dagger Warrior, Two Hand Warrior, dual axe cun rogue.

You can make your party anything in this game, dont limit yourself to the common types and styles. building a pure tank actualy works against you, considering you can build purely offensive characters that have insane defense or 100% dodge and spell imunity fairly easy.

You can also build some intresting all ranged partys, all warrior or rogue parties, 3 mages, 4 bears or spider parties.
