Are we going to see the other gender of alien species in ME2?

I'm playing through ME again and the one thing that struck me is that we only ever see one gender for every alien species (unless someone else can point any exceptions out):

Male:

Krogan
Turians
Volus
Salarians
Elcor
Hanar

Female:

Quarian
Asari (mono-gendered species)

What's the deal?  It's rather strange.

Yes, this was definitely one of the stranger design choices.

I noted the same myself. It could be the case, however, that humans lack the ability to tell genders or sexes apart.

Very poor excuse.

I demand that we have more than one gender per species in ME2. (asari not included)

I demand it!

I really, really hope so. I understand the justifications people give for there being only one recognisable gender for most species, and I can buy it for the Hanar and Volus and such, but... they just don't hold up to scrutiny. For example, the Salarians are matriarchical and all their women are on their home planets. That makes sense, but then why is the Salarian council member a man? Or is it a woman and should we see that by her clothing? Are there no Turian gender differences in voice? Don't female (or male) Volus want to distinguish their outfits from the other gender with decorations?

I hope that, now that the game is on 2 discs, they managed to add both genders.

There are male quarians in ME2. As for hanar, ambiguous at best.

I never said it was a good excuse.  The should at least have a codex entry or two on the topic. In practice, how would they indicate sex differentiation to us without adding mammaries  to everything? The primary differences could be hidden from view or not recognizable to us. Have you ever tried to determine the sex of a turtle by looking at it? It's not super easy... especially when they are young.

Dunno how much of a reliable source this is but;

masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Turian#Trivia

If the only reason Turians were only shown as male in ME1 was the time needed to create female models being unavailable, it may well be the case with others (though how would you tell with Elcor, Volus or Hanar without some serious sexual dimorphism I dunno). Hopefully, they'll have had enough time for ME2 to make some models.

I'm slightly terrified of what a female volus might look like.

Volus are like the dwarves, the females are only myths.

You wont be seeing a Salarian female. They stay on their home planet and are the politicians.

Like I said earlier: what about the Salarian Council member then? Is that a woman? It should be, if the leaders/politicians are female.

The devs must be very sexist and male-centered. :D

Or just lazy. I actually do believe it's the male-centered worldview on the background, no one can get rid of it sadly..

I'm picturing a Mr/Mrs. Potato Head type relationship.

The whole "hurr durr you just can't tell them apart!" excuse is ridiculous. So every krogan, turian, salarian, etc just so HAPPENS to act and sound like a male, even if they are really female? Give me a break, BioWare. If that was the case, then you should have been smart enough to give some of them female voices at the very least.

It's a little bit of both I'm sure, but moreso the latter I'd say. I mean sure now there are male quarians since we'll be visiting the flotilla, but we're also going to Tuchanka. Will we see female Krogan?

Somehow I doubt it.

When did anybody give that excuse?

Casey Hudson did during the Best Buy Q&A.

If the director is willing to give such a poor excuse then that doesn't give me much hope.

They were rushed for time with ME1. I'm sure we'll see female turians at least in ME2.
