I really believe she's a very underrated character. I actually liked her more than any character in DA2. Varric and Merril get a lot of love. She was such a loyal character and actually had some very funny awkward moments. I really hope she isn't overlooked. Who else supports Aveline?

Clearly, the appropriate development for Kirkwall's captain-of-the-guard is to abandon her new husband and city in favor of moving to precisely the 5 mile area that the Inquisitor will pass through at one point. And her character arc can be about finding a third husband!

I'm so sorry... that was very mean of me.

You can say the same about any other character that will conveniently involve themselves in the Inquisition plot line. I'm just saying, i'd like to at least see a cameo.

Aveline is too aggressive in every single part of life. "Order will be restored." I hope she stays as far away as possible.

No I can't. I would imagine that half of them have reasons to be in Orlais. Like they live there. Aveline does not live in Orlais.

And I would expect they'd have character arcs that the characters were designed for. Aveline already had hers.

She's one that would be iffy. While I'm all for all the former companions having a cameo, Aveline would be really specific. She's not the type to just abandon her duties. The only way I can see it, feasibly, is if we took a stroll through Kirkwall, and she was still guard-captain, or even viscount (she'd hate it, but if it kept order...)

Her father was an Orlesian Chevalier, there could be some sort of family connection.

Aveline is indeed an awesome character.

But that's no reason to give her a cameo. She's had her time in the limelight.

You forgot the part where her second husband contracts the blight and has to be euthanized.

With Morrigan, Varric and Leliana returning I'd rather not see any more old companions back.

Not that I have anything against Aveline but if she gets a cameo with some lame excuse like visiting her grandmother in Orlais that would stretch credibility a little too far for me. Alistair in DA2 with his "Hi, I'm the king of Ferelden, ok, bye" seemed very over the top no matter how much I might like him as a companion in DAO.

If DAI turns into some strange collage of cameos I would really hate that. I prefer characters like Cassandra or Isabela and Merril from DAO to DA2 that were just NPCs and in the next game they become a more important character.

I could see Aveline (and Donnic) showing up in Ferelden if that is where she went after the events of Kirkwall. In DA2, she once talked about the crown giving officers back their job (or something like that).

Aveline is the only other companion (other then Varric and Isabela) who cannot die in DAII. Even in a low friend/rival, she'll quit the guard before trying to kill Hawke. I wager she'll be back.

The Inquisitor will visit Kirkwall at some point.
If yes, heck yeah.
If no, heck no.

I don't mind if Aveline appears, but I prefer Cassandra in the female warrior department.

Orlais seems to be a very happening place with all the problems there. There can be a very good excuse for her to be in Orlais at this point.

Have her come back just so I can see her still married to that Fruit Loop Donnic and be reminded how badly I (and some others, to be fair) got screwed over on the one romance in the game that would have been the *most* logical? No. Thanks. But, hey, that's just me.

Looks like Cassandra will fill her role as tank now, but I wouldn't mind a cameo or side quest appearance.

Why does everyone think Aveline stayed in Kirkwall? If she helped Hawke defend the mages, she'd basically be out of a job. (What, do you think the templars would just let that slide? Once reinforcements arrived, they'd easily outnumber the City Guard and could forcibly oust her.)

Mark of the Assassin introduced a potentially interesting plot for Aveline with the quest connecting the Du Lac family and the Black Vials. I would not be surprised in the least if we encountered Aveline in Orlais following up this "She of the Red" mentioned in the prisoner's note.
