Given what happened in Krikwall...Aveline was very much associated with Anders and Hawke. Its not implausible that she loses her job over it. Heads do tend to roll in the aftermath of situations like that. I don`t think it would be difficult to include her in DA:I, storywise.

I'd love an Aveline cameo, though I wonder what one would look like. For all the other characters, I can picture a cameo, showing how they've developed (for the good or bad) after their time with Hawke/The Warden, but for Aveline, at least the Aveline from my games, I can't imagine anything other than "Look at this lovely village I found in dire need of a new guardsmen, and have you met my adorable ginger children yet?" It feels like either she'll be living a satisfactory lifestyle in the next game, or she'll turn up dead to give some personal incentive to the player character/Varric, either way wouldn't make for much of a "cameo".

Well I think she would put friends above duty, at least with Hawke and co.
Probably because she feels like she owes the Hawkes; without them she would've been swarmed by darkspawn defending husband #1.

why do you assume she is still in kirkwall? she was very loyal and protective of Hawke. if anything, she will be trying to look for him. Orlais seems like a good lead.

It would quite reasonable for her to be Fereldan, at least some times. She was offered a job there in act 3, and while she may have decided to turn it down during the game, if she ended up siding with the mages I can't see her being welcome in Kirkwall any more.

Frankly anything's possible. All these assurances that she cannot possibly be spotted outside of Kirkwall are somewhat baffling to me. Maybe she was sacked, maybe she chose to join the Templars, maybe she is escorting a Kirkwall dignitary to some function or other, maybe she is hunting Kirkwall's most nefarious seller of rotten nug testicles for tax evasion...

A good writer can make anything seem plausible. I loved Aveline personally, but I wouldn't want her involved in DA:I unless there was a decent reason for her to be there. The same goes for any character, beloved or no.

I like her she was very useful as a tank when I played mage or Rouges. And her story lines in D.A 2 were fun and down right funny at times. Though sadly I'm guessing she'll only cameo. Cause, well as some one pointed out she has a job that keeps her in Kirkwall and she is married so a lot is keeping her tethered to that town. Though I'm sure Bio ware writers could easily find a work around.

Given i would prefer if they kept DA2 LI's fates enterwined offscreen with Hawke, Aveline is a character i would have no problem if they drew into the DAI narrative. Obviously i wouldn't want her just to be there as a forced cameo but as a significant character in the story, sure.

well if we side with mages and she with us that mean she will be probably far away from kirkwall.

To be honest i don't want her i will be unnatural if old characters starts pop up from nowhere like in da 2 and be just to make reference to old pc or no reason. They keep saying how da isn't single story but still they start spam old characters. To be honest such characters like leliana , alistair and zevran are pointless in da 2 leliana could be replaced by other character well if we killed her or just leave her alone and not doing her jesus of da universe ,alistair drunk , warden and king and everyone ended in kirkwall meeting hawke... Now we have Zevran who meet hawke too. Sandal and Bodahn , Nathaniel and his sister , Teagan and isolde ,Sophia , Anders ,Merrill, Cullen all they were connected and to next protagonist please now they will be connected to another?

She's protective, but at the same time I'd think she'd help her fellow gaurds and stay with her husband. Sometimes you just got to say goodbye to a friend and not give up the life her friend gave her.

The threads not asking for her as a companion, but just to make an appearence. The Op, Myself, and several others would like that, aslong as it makes sense

I think Aveline was one of the best characters in DA2, I'd like to see her again.

Though, if she's an important character, she'll probably be in the mage/templar conflict on the templar side, unless you getting her to help Hawke protect the mages in DA2 changes anything.

Otherwise, I'd like to have her in a side quest.

So long as it's more, Legacy Aveline as opposed to any other Aveline. She is, hands down, the party member I dislike the most out of all the dragon age games.

I really wanted to like her, too. I wanted to like the badass warrior chick. But she was so damn judgmental, couldn't keep her nose out of other people's business or stop telling them how to live their lives. I just couldn't stand her.

 Well, minus the whole part with Donnic's healing-male-sexual-organ, I was a fan of Aveline's.


I'm just not sure how one would involve her in the next story.
